It would have zero effect even if you could convince everyone to do it (which you never will) Why? because world demand would take up the slack and it would be like nothing happened at all. Best thing to do is get rid of Dubbya & "Tricky" Dick Cheney!!!!

Forget trying to get people to not buy gas for one day. Let's all do this...simply NOT DRIVE a car one day a week. It's not the buying of gasoline that determines price but supply and demand. If the demand is down then so are the prices...right? One day a week....simply don't drive. If everybody in the country did this...supply would go way up and down would come prices...for a while. Until the oil companies simply cut production again.

I like your enthusiasm. I am willing to give it a go. The only set back might be that your local gas station, probably owned by someone you know, has already paid the big oil companies for the gas he has to sell to us. If we don't buy from him, we are just hurting our local dealers. The big dogs already got paid. Not only that, you try and kick a big dog, it will only get mad and bite. Most likely harder than before. If you boycott the big oil companies, they will sit on the billions and billions of profit that we already gave them and wait us out. Not only that, they are diversified. They have many other sources of income. Not only that, their investors, guys who buy their stocks will get angry. On top of all that, once you start poking around into president Bush's income, all heck will break loose. I am with you my friend, I love a challenge !!!

Problems include...
(1) overnight, time-sensitive shipping (trucks, FedEx, etc.)
(2) driving to work?????
(3) school buses, school commute, etc.

Basically you want to shut down the world economy for a day. To reduce the price of gas three cents. Great Idea!
