Well if your freind really doesnt have a plan in life, then they need to step it up. Speaking from personal experience I was given the choice by my parents, who aren't anywhere near rich either, that if I wanted to stay at home i needed to pay rent. Mayebe your freind's parents should do the same thing. There are plenty of options out there, your freind just needs to find on for her. If she goes to college, then a community college is always a good place to start for those who don't exactly know what they want to do. There is always the military as well, just tell her to join the Air Force if she's going to join, because (once again from personal experience) the Army sucks.

Its not bad at all.. Unless she sits around and does nothing for a long time.. Most 18 year olds take the summer to figure out what their plans are after highschool. I still know people in their 40's who don't know what they are going to do with the rest of their lives. But if she lives there without going to college for any longer then a year..she needs to move out. I know some people who lived with their parents until they finished college so they could save the money..

I don't see a problem with an 18 year old still living at home. I have several friends with children in college still living at home. They commute to the local college which saves their parents money on dorm fees. However, your friend needs to make plans for her future. She needs to get a job, sign up for vocational school, or sign up for college. She can't just live at home and not do anything all day.

if the 18 yr old goes to college then the parents should support them any way possible because they are probably the reason. if not, then At least they should have a job and be working towards something in life... They should get 4 years to do what they gotta do to get out of the house.

I see nothing wrong ,at this age,to take advantage of living at home,if all is well between partners that are concerned. This arrangement should be used as a base to further the attempt for seeking a permanent position in the job market.

I stayed with my parents until I got married at 25. I was in college and worked. As long as she is contributing to the house then she isn't mooching off of them. Adults take on adult responsbilities. Is she contributing financially? Doing some of the grocery shopping and cooking meals? Is she helping keep the house clean and in working order? If she is doing these things, then what's the problem?

if you're going to school it's ok. I live at home during vacations and summers and at school when it's in session. I stayed home my first year in college to save some money since the university is 15 minutes from my house, but have sinced moved into the dorms.

I have a daughter living at home. She just finished her first year of college and has decided not to return to that school. She has a job as a camp counselor and is taking a class at the local Jr college. I'm happy about the arrangement. I expect her to pay for her own gas and insurance. She is welcome to stay with us as long as she continues to take care of her business.

It depends on your situation. Kids try to hurry to grow up and move out when they are not ready. With college , apartments, and cost of living so expensive and depending on your job, most 18 year old can only get jobs that pay around $8/hour it is getting more and more common for kids to live with their parents longer until they can afford to live on their own.....and secrectly.....with cost of living up....parents kind of like 'charging rent' to their kids.....even if it is $100/month...because they could use that money also....

18 year olds living at home isn't such a big deal, I'm 21 and im still at home. If she isn't going onto college, then I think she should get a job and help contribute to the household.
