I used to have a project box when my kids were little. It was filled with sequins, colored pipe cleaners, colored paper, paste, scissors, wooden shapes, felt, etc. and I would pull it out on rainy days or when I had a babysitter or when they were just bored and they would be creative and occupied for hours.

One project that I have done a couple of times that deals with growing. Take a paper towel like the ones you get in a school bathroom, punch holes with a pencil in the fold of the towel. Wet the towel and line the fold with seeds (I have used lima beans). Place the towel into a sandwich baggie and tape to a window. As the plants start to grow the roots, will grow down through the holes in the papertowel.

You could do a thing on what helps the body grow and let them bring in their favorite fruit or vegetable. Also you could have them get a partner and just trace each other and have them tell the class something about it like what body part is what or something like that. You can also do something different everyday like one day do something healthy for the bones and see who can name the most like milk for instance ( give hints) and give the one who came up with the most a prize.

Making a loaf of bread...the kids are able to help add the ingredients, take turns kneading, and then you can all watch it grow as the yeast multiplies. Plus, there's a yummy snack after naptime:D You can also grow beans.

Why not make a grasshead man. Teaches the kids about science and they will adore watching their mans hair grow.
You could also make a vege patch and grow some veges...
