For the last few years I have pretty much lost all that I believed in there being a God. Nothing tragic happened that turned me against but I have been starting to explore my doubts more and I'm starting to lean towards atheism. Such as....why does christianity teach that all who don't believe in Jesus damned to hell. What about Jews, muslims, etc etc. People in those religions have faith that there's is right and christianity says that they are hellbound? It's all just so frustrating to me. If there was a God why does it have to be such a mystery and why do we have to rely so much on something we can not see. It seems cruel to me. So now I'm starting to think religion is something that's been conjured up to help people with the fears of death. Maybe it's all a big fairytail. It's pretty sad but that's the way I feel....can u change my mind?

Ok, well let me start by saying that God loves and cares for you... He sent His son Jesus to become a curse for you, and pay your punishment on the cross! Gods master plan from the beginning was to have Jesus come and reunite the jews and gentiles(non jews). We need to believe in Jesus because by doing so, we acknowledge Gods ultimate power and glory. We are now saved by grace, meaning we dont work to get to heaven, we just do by beliving in Jesus and that God rasied him from the dead. Again this all shows Gods ultimate power. Christianity is the only religion that is not by works. We dont work to get to God because we cant work. There is no path to God or becoming a 'god', but God has giving us Jesus as a bridge to Him!

God has given us so many signs and wonders that He still works today. Think of the times that we have been at the right place at the right time, or someone encouraged us when we really need it, or just look at creation, and it all shows the glory of God.

The bible says that we walk by faith and not by sight. (blindly as you say) but its not all blind, we have the holy spirit to guide us and teach us. If we could see God, it wouldnt be faith at all. God didnt want everyone to see him and worship him because he gave us freedom of the will... He didnt want us to be robots, programmed to worship Him. He loves us enough to give us freedom:)!!!!!

well i hope this helps and answers your question a little.. God bless :)

I am a Christian, & have been since I was a little girl. However, being a Christian and believing in God does not mean that you will never question God. Everyone who calls themselves a christian has certain moments in their life when they question God and question if He really does truly care about us...and most of all if He truly does exist. I have had these same questions throughout my life, but when I prayed and really took a look around, I realized that there HAS to be a God.

"Why did my cousin get cancer...he's only 2 years old...?" "Why did you take my son from me? I loved him to death!" "Why am I still living, I have no purpose!" These are just sample questions but they are real for someone. What kind of God would allow such horrible things to happen?

The same God who GIVES life, who allows you to wake up every morning, who created the beautiful flowers and the birds and all other living beings, who gave you all those wonderful happy moments you have experienced in your life.

Being or becoming a christian does not mean that you will never endure hardships, because you WILL. That is promised to you. Job 14:1 reads,"All of us born to women live only a few days and have lots of trouble." But God also gives rest on those who go through hardships." (Matthew 11:28) And He will never put more on us than we can bear (Matthew 11:30).

For example, people who have committed suicide...if they would have held out and had faith in God just a little bit longer, things would have gotten better for them. Think about it. When you have gotten THAT low, there's nowhere else to go but higher, right? (I'm not disrespecting these people, I have a friend who committed it.)

If you stay with God, have faith in Him and endure those hardships WITH HIM BY YOUR SIDE, you will come out victorious in the end. Plus you are promised a bigger reward than you can ever imagine if you stay with God...heaven. I know you said that nothing tragic has happened to you to make you stop believing in God, but maybe this will still help.

I urge you to use the ABC method to salvation:
A- Acknowledge that you are a sinner
B- Believe that Jesus is the son of God
C- Confess your sins to the Lord (not like EVERY little sin you commit cuz God already knows you're not perfect. But like those sins that your conscience won't let you get away with).
If you just ask Jesus into your heart, I promise you, you should begin to see things in a different light and you will be more @ peace. Good luck!

First, - the Bible is the word of God, and it says that you must believe in Christ the Savior, who came and died and rose again in order to go to heaven. Those such as Jews and Muslims that have formed their own faith and their own Gods ,defy this. Yes, their teaching are kind and good but it takes more than good acts to get to heave, because no one can be "good" enough to make it there. There is but one way to heaven and that is through Jesus.

And the reason why God is a mystery is because it is a test of faith. But, if you believe and talk to God and have a relationship, you will feel His prescence, you have to believe first and then you will see He is there. This life is SO short, it is but a burst of wind that is there and then gone, but ETERNITY is what is after death. THis life is our test to see if we believe the TRUTH and follow Jesus and God in faith, without questioning or if we follow society and the self-righteous man.

Think about it, we are creatures with a spirit, do you think that when you die, that THIS life is all there was?? What would be the point of that?? We have a soul, you can feel it, this body is just our protective skin to live on this planet God created. It often seems unfair, how God can be cruel it seems, but He is Just and He's a father..... He loves and blesses, He punishes when we are wicked, but He teaches lessons if you pay close attention and He will never leave your side. He's a father.... tough love, but you don't question it.

If you want help in reassurance, go somewhere in the woods, say perhaps the top of a mountain....go alone and when you are there, look at the world around you, the trees, the grass the animals and their perfect calls.....feel what He created, it's PURE beauty. This world is going down quickly...just as it was foretold in the Bible...it has been PREDICTED...and it's all happening before our very eyes. Natural disasters left and right, war, crime....and I know it's been around for 100's of years, but look at how it's snowballing. During the time near the end, Satan is trying to grab every soul he can. He doesn't want you to believe in God, that's his mission....look at people's morals today....It looks like the devil's doing pretty good huh? But God will win in the end.

It's your choice alone what you believe in....God gave us free-will, but pray hard and listen....He is there. Don't throw eternity of paradise in His kingdom away for what the world wants you to believe.....what satan wants you to believe. I'll pray for you. Hope you have a good one today, and I hope you feel His prescence.....

I'm sorry to hear about your frustrations and I can see why you would feel that way. A lot of people do end up feeling that way at some point of time in their lives.

There are some truths to what you are saying about Christianity, but here is what I can tell you: Jesus Christ himself said that "I am the way, the Truth and the Life; no man comes to the Father but by me." That pretty much means he is the key to getting into Heaven. Paul also states that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is the Savior, that you will be saved. Muslums and Jews do not believe Jesus to be the Messiah that can save humanity; they view him as a great prophet.

As far as the 2 knuckleheads that answered your question about there being no God; there is a God, he is real, he loves you and he wants you to love him back.

I do not have all the answers you seek becuase I am not a professional in that field. But I'm sure a local church would be more than happy to answer whatever questions you may have.

Good luck to you as you search the answers you are looking for.

You're experiencing enlightenment, and it's a wondrous thing to walk out into the light of reason after living in the darkness of 'faith' (which is really *fear*). The light can hurt your eyes at first, but then you can see a whole new vista before you.

Hang on to this thought: You can believe in 'God' without believing in anyone else's idea of 'God'. You can go beyond the myth and madness of organized religions and discover on your own the true Creator - the real 'God' who is seen only in rare glimpses in religious writings.

As that old expression goes, don't throw the baby out with the bathwater. You recognize Christianity as an imperfect religion, but that doesn't mean that there isn't something else beyond Christianity, beyond all religions, way beyond corrupted religious writings. There is something that is logical, loving, fulfilling to your spirit, and real. It's the magic and mystery that's already a part of yourself, which you can trace back through eternity.

I absolutely believe that every person must find his or her own unique connection to the eternal, or else spend life half awake and a slave to biblical teachings, which are in so many ways insulting to the true 'God'.

Christianity does not teach that all who do not believe in Jesus are damned to hell. The Catholic Church maintains that all those who, through no fault of their own, do not know Christ or his Church, but choose to respond affirmatively to God's grace, may be saved. Jesus Christ is the just judge who will determine each soul's eternal destiny in this and every other matter. It is the responsibility of every human being to seek God's absolute truth and do their very best to come to know and love God. Many are too lazy or too preoccupied with other matters to do this. They will have some explaining to do. Adam and Eve exhibited an excess of pride, but lacked faith, so they sinned and failed. When we respond to God's grace by humbling proclaiming our abundant faith in our Savior, Jesus Christ, even though we can't see him at the present time, we "balance the scales" and once again enjoy God's great good will and favor. You need to understand that you are not loosing your faith in God. You are loosing your faith in the silly little fantasy god that organized religion uses to scare people in an attempt to control their thoughts. This is a good thing. This is a prerequisite to true belief in the real God, the unconditionally loving God. Be thankful many never get the courage to question the lies that organized religion has perpetrated about God. God is your dearest friend, your closest companion. He /She sees you as perfect in every way and has never had any silly ideas about judging or punishing you or anyone else. In spite of all the Judeo, Christian, Muslim nonsense you have come to the conclusion that the things you have been told about God can’t be true. The universe rejoices each time this happens.

Any Idea that God is displeased with you or anyone else is absurd. These teachings see God as incompetent the maker of faulty goods. God created you perfect and you are incapable of changing what God has done. Seems you are starting to believe in God again in spite of all of the lies you have been told. See this change as a good thing, and start to see God as your dearest friend. Love and blessings.

Honey, I am so sorry that you doubts have lead you to believe that there is no god. When I went scearching I found Him. In the Bible it says that those who look, will find and he who asks will recieve. I think some one has told you a bad concept of heaven and hell. Heaven is being in God's presence. Hell is with out Him. So being dammed to hell is not so bad if you don't love God to begin with. Being in His presence is one of the most beautiful things I experiance on a day to day basis. On judgement day each will be accountable only for that each has recieved, so if someone was not told about Jesus or God in general, they will not be as accountable as someone who walked away from the living God. There are alot of really good books by Lee Strobel if you want hard core facts about Faith, Christ, and the Creator of us all. My husband tells me that it is better to know God and not need him, but really sad to need him and not have him. The only way I can live from day to day and look at this world is to know that there is a loving God in charge of everything. The bad things happen because of others' choices not because God can not change things, but if you have ever seen a miracle you can not walk away unchanged. If you were a Christain and truly surrendered to God's will and have felt Him talking to you and his heart leaping because you said you loved him and wanted him to come into you life. How can you turn awayfrom the best and most complete relationship one can ever know. He loves you and will never forsake you. Don't do it to him. If you need some to talk to go ahead and email me.

You might want to consider, why do you have in you this sense of right and wrong that makes you feel like you ought to do some things and refrain from doing other things, all at certain times. Almost like a melody your conscience wants you to follow, hitting certain notes at just the right times--what's making you feel that you should do some things and not do others. I strongly suggest you read more about religion and philosophy. Science cannot answer "why", only "how" this world came into being. A former atheist that became a Christian is C.S. Lewis. In his book Mere Christianity, he discusses some points about the existence of God.

Christians do NOT teach that all humans from other religions will go to hell.

Christians believe that "Jesus is the Way". It means that after your death, you will see Jesus and you will be leaded to Eternal Life by Jesus and through Jesus.

If you knew Jesus from you life on earth, you wil be leaded to the place you belong in Eternal Life according to the life you lead on earth with the knowledge of Jesus.

If you didn't know Jesus from your life on earth or if you didn't believe in Him, it doesn't matter, you will get to know Him in Eternal Life. You will be leaded to the place you belong in Eternal Life according to what you did on earth about good and bad. Every human being was created with a notion of what is good or bad inside his heart.

PS : I am a catholic. What I told you is what I hear in catholic churches and this the way the Catholic Church teaches it. However, I'm sure it's the same for all christians.

PPS : If you want to know for sure about God, why don't you ask Him? Why don't know ask Him something like : "God do you exist? If so, tell me?"
1. If He doesn't exist, He won't answer...
2. If He does exist, as I do believe from all my heart, He will show you that He is God and that He loves you so much. I tell you, He will! He's done it for me, and for lots of people I know.

No, I can't. You're the only person who can change your mind.

But I feel for you. It's rough when you question everything you've ever believed. That's a big deal and it's totally okay to feel upset about it. Your questioning is good. God's not mad at you for being unsure and struggling with doubt. Just so you know that. He's not insecure. And He still loves you.

I've struggled through that myself. I went through a period of about 2-3 years where I hated God and accused Him, yet doubted His existence. I was angry with Someone I wasn't even sure was listening. It was a pretty dark time in my life. And I was at Bible college at the time, and was a missionary. How did I come out of it? Well, I had friends praying for me. I also began to discover that I had some really messed up ideas about God, about justice, about love, about what it means for Him to be all-powerful, etc.

You put forth some very good questions here. To answer any one of them would be take a long, thought-out post in and of itself. If there is one particular one you'd like me to try to answer for you/clarify/point you in the right direction/etc, then add it under "add details." Or feel free to email me (the link is on my profile).

The Bible is full of God's promises to be found by those who seek Him, and it's full of people who wrestled with doubt. If you truly want to know the truth, you'll find it (not what you want to be true or what would be most convenient). Maybe try asking God your tough questions. It really doesn't intimidate Him.

I am willing to do my best to provide an answer, but I'm not sure where to begin. There's much to say, and I'm sure it would generate more questions. Again, feel free to add comments or email me.

Bless you on your search. I feel for you. It's rough, where you're at now, but it's good, too. It strengthens your faith in the end. You'll see. And the very fact that you're choosing to wrestle with this and say "I want to believe, but..." says a lot about you. God sees your heart and your desire to know truth. Don't give up. He rewards those who seek Him.
