why can't parents just understand that the person they are in love with may not be the person they like!!! so what.............don't you want your child to be happy. even ifd the person hurts them.......they will learn from theor mistakes!

i agree that a preson should be happy but how can you be in love with some one who hurts you. i was in an abusive relationship for 8 years and i got out of that and went into another one and was in it for 4 years you can be happy and not have the preson hurt you. if you are bieng hurt by the person you are with than your parents are just being parents because they care abuot you.

Because younger people are typically foolish. They rush in to things and oftentimes have no understanding of what they are getting themselves into. They probably just don't want you crying on their shoulder with them repeating "I told you so." But you are right. If your relationship fails, you will definitely learn. However, when you age you'll realize that wasting your time with poor or foolish investments is extremely unwise.

first of all .. it depends on how old are you...
it is a weird situation...
sometimes we got to understand that our parents has reached their age after going through their own bit of heart ache..(they know things even though sometimes feel we know better than them)
if they have a daughter ... there is even more chance of wanting to protect their daughter..
the time we will go through the same misery is when we have children..
for the time being try to dispel your parents fear...

parents have been around a lot longer than the kids. they can generally smell trouble brewing. they just want to stop you making some very silly mistakes.

they dont want 2 c their children get hurt by love....it hurts parents 2 c their children cryin over love. They just love u a lot.

maybe they don't like to let you repeat the mistakes they made before.. they're afraid you'd be hurt just like them... that's why they're overprotective...
respect them... it would be nice if you're parents agree with your prtner, right?
