I'm still confused about the Whole u go to Hell thing if u don't accpet Jesus as ur saviour. I don't believe it my self because it doesn't make sense. Like a lot of good people gonna go to Hell just for not believing and they don't even deserve to go there. Not even bad people with deserve that kind of punishment. Someone was saying we're all born sinners, born bad, born immoral. That doesn't make sense to me either. I would say that people on earth are probably half good half bad like no one is perfect. Some more good some more bad etc. But I still don't get how non believers deserve to sent to Hell. It seems like God only looks at are bad examples. I think Heaven isn't actually for good people and Hell isn't actually for bad people. Whats the thingl with sin? Does God only judge us by our bad works? Does God only judge us by the part of our personalities that is bad? Except we're both good and bad. I'm really confused.

as a non believer ex catholic I can say that of course it does not make sense... the bible is an allegory. Having said that, no where does it say that you go to hell if you do not accept Jesus. I believe it says that Jesus is the way, the hope and the light. I take this to mean that if you want to go to heaven then believing in jesus is a way to help acheieve that end. I do not think that if there is a god that there is any accounting done. When these stories in the bible were written they were an attempt to show people in a very simple way, the value of living a "good" life. Makes sense if you believe in god or not. Besides, heaven hell and god are in each of us every day.

The Lord judges according to the decisions a person makes, rather than the actual acts. What if Heaven is a place that only someone that wants to be with God would be able to be happy? What if Hell is what a person gets if all that person wants is himself/herself? Maybe someone doomed for Hell would not be able to enjoy Heaven. Perhaps each person will get exactly what they want--if you want to continue yourself as you are, you will get just that; but if you want to be with God, you will need to let go of everything of this world before you enter Heaven. Perhaps the work of salvation continues after this life, such that those who weren't ready during their earthly life will have a chance to decide after this life. Maybe there is a purgatory or "grey" area where people have to decide. I don't claim to know. But some of these ideas are in The Great Divorce by C.S. Lewis.

That's a good question. A lot of us look around and feel like we see "good" people. I think that frequently. The problem is that i'm judging people by my standards and my standards are based on my experiences.

God originally created man sinless. Mankind sinned and in doing so rebelled against God. God has basically (forgive this over simplification) spent the rest of man's existance trying to bridge the gap of our rebellion. This redemtive work on His part is exemplified in this, "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." God is doing His part to redeem HIs children whom he loves.

When we say that someone is a "good" person, we are not judging by God's standards, nor are we comparing people to what mankind was like before sin (so basically we have no true standard to understand "good" because we have never seen untainted, pure good.)

The wages of sin is death and punishment, that is, unfortunatly, what sin brings (sin is a tough concept to truely understand, both how terrible it is and how pervasive it is). Because the original man and woman sinned, they have passed that sin to all thier children (it's like the suckiest inheritance ever) so we are born sinners. Sin separates us from God. Christ's sacrifice paid the penalty of death for us so we could again be in relationship with God. See, it's not simply the whole "Heaven or Hell" thing; God wants to have a relationship with us (that's a whole other confusing topic but also a very cool and fun one).

By accepting Christ as our savior yes, we do end up in Heaven, but we also honor and the God who created us and return to Him the selfless love He pours out on us so freely.

I hope this helps, you've gotten a lot of very differant answers. If you have questions about or would like to discuss mine feel free: hxcjesusboy@Yahoo.com

Works will not get you to heaven. Many people do good things - donate money, etc but still live a sinful life. We all do, we all fall short. God hates sin. For us to be accepted in God kingdom, we must be sin-free. Christ did that for us. We used to have to sacrifice animals to do this, but given the state of the world, there would be no animals left if we continued this. God sent Christ, a perfect human, sinless, to die to make the ultimate sacrifice on our behalf. No more works need to be done, Faith alone. God judges us by our heart and if Christ is there to take the judgement in your place.

Uh oberin1 - you better read your bible again - "No one enters the kingdom of heaven except thru me"

According to the Church it works like this.

A) You're baptized and a believer. You die in what's called a "State of Grace", ie, your sins absolved. You go to Heaven, probably after a short stint in Purgatory.

B) You're NOT baptized and you've never even heard of Jesus. You have, however, lived your life in accordance with your own belief system and to the best of your ability have been a good person. You die. First person you meet is Christ who gives you a choice: Me or not Me. You choose Him, you go to heaven, baptized by desire.

C) You die for the faith of Christ even though you remain unbaptized at the moment of death. You meet Jesus first thing and He says, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant." You go to heaven baptized by blood.

D) You have been exposed to Jesus, to the Bible, to church, to knowledge about God and His laws and you freely choose to reject them. But you try to live a good, moral life. You die. First person you meet is Jesus who says, "NOW will you accept Me?" You say "yeah". You go to heaven, eventually. You say, "Hell no, I won't go." And hell is the only option left. So, sighing regretfully, He lets you go there.

E) Sin is the causing of harm or hurt to anything or any one through deliberate malice or negligent cruelty. There are levels of sin. It is less sinful to shovel dirt over and bury a flower bed, smothering the plants than to shovel that dirt over a corpse YOU turned into a corpse.

F) God judges the heart. Not so much the WHAT you do, but the WHY you did it. God's ideas of mitigating circumstances may not be ours, but His are a darn sight more merciful.

G) And that is WHY we teach the concept of Purgatory (see Maccabees). Purgatory is the soul's car wash, where the wrinkles and stains sin has caused are removed and the soul made whole and pure and fit for Heaven. Not to do so would make the poor thing stand out like a sore thumb, embarrassing at the least. Not to do so would render that soul less able to enjoy the joys of Heaven, something God wants them to have in the fullest.

H) Hope this helped.

I think if, and when we are judged, God's main question will be, "How much of your life reflects my teachings?"

not, What bad things have you done?"

People who focus on sin and what is "forbidden" don't have the time and energy to actually live the life Jesus talked about.

In Jesus ministry, he didn't spend a lot of time talking about what you shouldn't do. He spent his entire ministry telling people what TO do. He talked about where a person's heart should be, not which sins shouldn't be committed. He didn't have anything good to say about the people in his society who focused on what NOT to do .

Copy and paste this question to different churches of different religions and see what they they say. I am a believer of GOD. I think that GOD LOVES every one. You have a choice to be either good or bad. To me their is a Heaven and Hell and if you want to be bad and don't except Jesus as your lord and Savior you will go to Hell and the opposite goes for those who acknowledge him as Lord God. but, You HAVE A CHOICE.

Though I am Christian i donot believe that you need to be a christian to go to heaven....
Jesus never started christianity..its his followers who started christianity...and Jesus himself has told that a true believer is one who follows his commandments....
going by that there will be only a very few christians in this world...a very few like Mother theresa, Gandhiji ..etc
the things which he said is basically what every other religion...
says also...
you basically have to be good to your fellow being that what the essence of every relegion is...but when human beings start interpreting it , it get a whole new dimension...

then there is also a saying that heaven and hell are all on Earth.
We can only comment about things we know about..no one knows what heaven or hell is like...

God judges us by what's in our hearts....I don't believe you have to go to church to go to heaven, and as for hell, I'm of a mind to think we experience that on earth, and how we deal with the problems we are given decides to what degree our reward in the afterlife is...does that help or are you even more confused?

God look at the good things and bad things, it is his decion to send who he wants to hell or heaven, all he wants us to do is to do the right thing like dont hate another persona, not to cheat with a married man, to do things that are correct, you might say that there is alot of people that are good out there but what is really in there hearts, are they capably to kill another person for no reason, like that women en texas that killed her 4 o 5 childeren in the bath tub, God wants to go deep down in your heart and mind to make each of us a good person. we are not perfect that is true but try to do you best, as a person,
