300 years prior to that there were wars in the Middle East... not about oil.
700 years prior to that there were wars in the Middle East... not about oil.
900 years prior to that there were wars in the Middle East... not about oil.
400 years prior to that there were wars in the Middle East... not about oil.
And on and on and on...
This war is not about oil. This war is about getting a foothold in the most strategic location on the planet.

Yes, it started about twenty years ago and I expect it will continue at least 50 years or until world governments quit selling themselves to the oil conglomerates. All of the military actions in recent history have been over oil, no matter what the world leaders say. For instance, U.S. Presdient Bush announced some years ago that in the "war against terrorism" our mission was accomplished. However, we didn't bring our troops home and there is still conflict. We are not "in a war" but we are "at war" . When a cheap, renewable power source is found so that everyone can use it, no matter what economic status they have, peace will break out worldwide. People won't have to work so hard just to survive, and stress and desperation will be replaced with calm and communication. Or else we will blow the world up and everyone will die of radiation sickness except the cockroaches. Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

No there won't be a world war over it. The current war has been enough to get people to begin the change to alternate types of fules. If you haven't heard about E85 or ethynol then you should do a google search on it. It can be made from corn and even garbage to a point. America produces vast ammounts of both so I don't believe it will be long before America is self sufficient for fuel, and if America doesn't care about the oil then no one else will either.

A lot of people think that the war in Iraq is over oil, for a small part that is true but looking at the bigger picture it is the beginning of a war between the haves and have nots that will probably evolve into a world war.

Much sooner than that, it is no coincidence that countries are frantically trying to (by contract) secure oil and gas supplies.
We are now at the stage where the demand is greater for our resources than can be supplied. They will be sold to the highest bidder.
How much would you pay to keep yourself from freezing in the winter. Would you pay more to drive your car than a European/ Chinaman?

I doubt it. Within the next 50 years new developments will probably replace crude with something else. *LOL* With our luck it will probably have something to do with sand. And we'll be dependant on the Arabs for that.
