If you're asking for the best sources on the Internet, then I'd have to say www.brewboard.com It's a large forum with many FAQ's to get you started. I would also recommend, www.howtobrew.com It's the online version of JJ Palmer's book of the same name. The paper copy is in it's 3rd edition and I highly recommend you get that if you get real serious about the hobby.

The hobby can be as cheap (under 100 dollars to start, not counting ingredients) to well into the thousands if you're a gadget geek.

Welcome to the obsession!
