Not exactly (although it could be, I suppose). "Gelatin" comes from the bone of an animal. The bones are cooked and the sweetness comes out.

This process of making gelatin is "mimmicked" when proper barbecued ribs are prepared. Barbecue means much more than "cooking outside" and is actually a very slow cooking process over low heat. This "low and slow" brings the gelatin out of ribs and helps make them lip-smacking good!

When you roast a piece of beef, there are drippings in the pan. The drippings are used to make gravy. Those drippings contain some of the gelatin.

gelatin is made from pig hooves (my husband works for a gelatin company)

gelatin is made of cow bones,,,,there is however Kosher gelatin that is made of fish bones.
