I've done this before. Check the owner's manual for you DVD player to see if it will play JPEGs directly. If it does, it will tell you how many folders the disc can have and how many files per folder the player will recognize. JVCs allow 99 folders with up to 149 files each. If such is the case, just copy the files to the standard burn wizard on WinXP in various folders and burn to a standard data CD-R/RW.
Slideshows are another matter. If you use an HP computer, you can download the software for free. If not, then you'd need Nero 7. Using that program allows you to add music overlays and the like, but your upper limit is 99 slideshows of 99 images each and then you'd have to use a DVD for the burn. If you add special effects, you'll use more space and the burn will take longer.

hi, Ofcourse no longer. If it became an mp3 participant, then the medium does no longer remember eg. DVD, CD, USB sticks etc yet because that is CD audio, you could in person-friendly words have the songs on a CD. Cheers, D

get a cd/dvd burner for your computer. Then just burn them from there
