"That we dont have a position available which is a STRONG MATCH at this time".
When you apply for a job and get this kind of feedback, what do they mean by "STRONG MATCH", is it a polite way of refusing you the job?, or is it that your qualifications are better for the job you applied for, and they saw there is no need to give you a low profile job?
I just dont get it when i get such a reply.
Please explain or discuss.

This is just a polite way to tell you that you have not been offered a position. It may or may not be because of your qualifications. Remember there are very many reasons why a job vacancy is placed. At times it is meant to confirm somebody to the position who has been there on a temporary basis. In such a case or other similar cases selection is biased but the regret letters are normally standardised.

This is something I have experienced many times. That is basically a polite way to say that you didn't get the job. More than likely someone with better qualifications got the job instead of you.

That is a polite way of saying that they don't think your qualifications match up with the job you applied for.

Well not only is this a polite way of telling you, you didn't get the job, its also telling you don't have the qualifications required to get the job you applied for.

They could just be being nice, or there are particular positions for which you are most suited for, none of which are available. i don't think it has to do with better qualifications.

I think it is a politically correct way of saying we don't want you. I hate job hunting. What a pain.

They were kind to you, usually they just say "we will keep your application on file." In my experience, going through the unemployment office works best. They only send you on interviews for which you are qualified.
