The keyword is meaningfully. If it is just babble and unintelligible, then this may be a problem that a pediatrician needs to see.
At this age, children are learning to talk and they say words - maybe 2 or 3 words together in a partial sentence.
If the speech is not clear or some syllables are not heard, that is not a problem at this point. It will clear up in the next year.

I am not sure what you mean by meaningfully. Most two year olds can say a word or two in a sentence. Some can do more,some less but I am sure your child is fine. If you are concerned speak with you doctor and he can refer you to a specialist in that area . I hope that helps ~A~

lots of children take a long time to speak meaningfully I think its not a problem I know a child who couldn't speak meaningfully until he was about 3 years old or 3years 6month all he said was "gaga" now he is OK so don't be afraid

g'day sweety...um, when you say 'meaningfully', do you mean she is un able to put sentences together? or are her words not understandable?
either one though, mothers know their children best, and at this age, it may be likely she has a speech problem. (THIS IS NOTHING MAJOR PROBABLY) they can go visit speech therapists and have this corrected or monitored, and asessed properly.
but idealy, this site is merely a forum, please seek professional help, ask ur GP to refer you to a speech pathologist if you are worried.

if they r still having trouble at the age of 3 then take them 2 a speech therepist, my cousin didn't talk until the age of 3 and a half, so the y took hhim 2 a speech theripist, and he startes talking up a storm. good luck :)
