my son still pees the bed on occasion, he's 8. Now the thing is, my brother did the same growing up until he was ten, and he remembers being so scared everyone would find out, because my parents tried everything, including yelling at him, taking away things.... one day it just stopped. He doesn't remember if he was 10 or 11, but he thinks he was pretty old before finally he just quit doing it. Nothing worked before that, nothing doctors tried, not waking him up, nothing.... He's 27 now, we've talked alot about it, since my son is going through the same thing. My son wears Goodnights, which are diapers some nights, but mostly, I just leave him be. I don't ask him to put them on, or if he wet that night. He talks to me, says it is embarrassing, and I understand. Maybe this will help you. Your sister doesn't probabley know she's doing it, and would love your support. Maybe mom or dad could buy some Goodnights for her? Don't stress, it will all work out.

she's still young enough to grow out of it. Don't let her drink anything near bedtime. Awake her each night around 1-2am and send her to the bathroom.

Perhaps at some time in the future if the the situation continues and there's not a medical problem, these exercises may be helpful to learn control.

Kegel exercises

To locate the right muscles, try stopping or slowing your urine flow without using your stomach, leg or buttock muscles. When you're able to slow or stop the stream of urine, you've located the right muscles.
Squeeze your muscles. Hold for a count of 10. Relax for a count of 10.
Do this 20 times, 3 to 4 times a day.
You may need to start slower, perhaps squeezing and relaxing your muscles for 4 seconds each and doing this 10 times, 3 or 4 times a day. Work your way up from there.

The main problem with bed wetting is being a deep sleeper not bladder size. Unfortunately, most children will need to simply out grow this problem. Having her not drink for a couple of hours before she sleeps can help. Also waking her up before you go to bed and have her use the bathroom can help. You can also get a bed wetting (enuresis) alarm. Probably the best thing you can do is be supportive, try not to shame or embarrass her for the problem. No one is more aware of this problem than she is and if you ask her, she would like nothing more than be rid of it. If she is ten, then she is probably very close to growing out of it.

As long as you are not sharing the bed with your sister then don't worry about it. She will grow out of it. Do you know any 26 year olds who pee the bed? Probably not. And don't tell any of her friends, that will just make it worse.

I know this is bad for you but can you imagine how she feels? You wouldn't want her to tell everyone on the computer that you pick your nose. Come on, that is not fair to her for you to do this to her. Anyway, she should probably see a doctor about this problem. You need to be a good older sister and be supportive to her. She will outgrow this. I've known of others with the same problem. But really, she should go to the doctor.

I would wake my sister in the middle of the night to get up and go. After I started doing this she wet the bed less often and felt better about herself.

This is actually a fairly common thing. It could be due to stress or some other emotional problem. It could be physical, such as an underdeveloped bladder. The article below is filled with tips to help with this, describe why this can happen, etc. I'd say get her to see the doctor to rule out physical issues. http://www.aap.org/pubed/ZZZ30FMNH4C.htm?%E2%8A%82_cat=1

When she doses off to sleep wake her and send her to the bathroom. You may have to help her get there. If she doesn't start to pee drop some water (cold) on her wrist and she go.
If that doesn't work it could be something a doctor needs to check out.

My brother has had the same problem since he was young. Don't get upset at her. Help her out, dont make her feel bad. Make sure she uses the restroom before bad, and don't let her drink anything about an hour maybe 2 before sleeping.

Should be fine.
