In our church, kids are allowed to bring toys/crayons or books for the younger ones.. just like the other churches..
we love children and we give them special time to sing in the church or do their part everytime... they are part of the church.
Ask the elders, they are the ones that you can talk to or the ones that assist things about childrens. they would offer you and the kids something to do or listen to what you wanted to say in your church..we also have separate room where parents can be with children and listen to the sermon when child gets bored, where they can see in the glass window..
we all have part of looking after those kids whether they are not our children as we look at each other as families and these kids are God's children..
GOD bless....

I never brought toys. I did however bring one coloring book and several crayons. I did not take an entire pew up with the junk, as to not be disrespectful and I always kept the kids between myself and another adult. This way they didn't disturb anything by running up and down playing. I tried to limit the time and have them pay some attention and only allowed them to do this until age 5. After that, I didn't even allow them to sleep in church anymore. I think as long as they are quiet and don't make it a play area/date with other children you will be okay.

Personally I believe that a church should provide a special program for kids that cannot sit still in church--something they will enjoy and get something out of instead of being bored and getting nothing out of it.
Other people think that kids should sit through church even if they are bored. I think that hurts both the kids and the people around them.
So my opinion is that it's wrong to let them bring toys into church because if they need toys then they should be at the children's ministry session. Don't have a children's ministry session? Start one.
Again, my opinion.

Generally not...I did it when my kids were small. Undoubtedly SOMEONE will be offended...someone is always offended by something. But it's better to let some frumpy Parishioner be offended than it is to offend God by teaching your child to ignore Him.
Of course I can't speak for all churches...there are some religions where ANY images are offensive...but I'm sure you know your Church better than me.
There's a difference between a kid quietly playing with crayons in the pew verses him screaming and running up and down the aisle during the service. I'm sure you know the difference!

No ! Not at all. Kids have a hard time sitting still.
At my church, they actually provide little bags with crayons and paper and books for little kids if they want them. They take them into the pews and return them after the service.
I think that is a terrific idea.

it's a good idea to keep them quite during the service. It's more disrespectful if the kids are wiggly and whiny and disruptive.
To make yourself feel better - you could get religious type coloring pages for them color. Just make sure the colors stay on the paper and don't get on the pews or carpets.
My child always colored all over the bulletin. He would draw funny faces on the pictures - give them mustaches and stuff. Harmless fun.

No I do not think so either. It is disrespectful to let kids act up during church while others are trying to pray so if you can distract them with that I would appreciate it. You might get them some religious coloring books so they can be participating that way.
Good luck!

I dont think so , at my church you can being him toys and crayons, we have to make sure he or she does not make alot of noise and little by little he or she will understand that when you take him to church it is time to listen to what God haves to say to you and him as a family

I suppose if they do not distract anyone whilst doing so, I think it's ok.
It also depends how old they are...as they grow older and it's time for them to learn to respect and appreciate the service, it might give them alot of good to start slowly and step by step to reduce the time spent drawing and spend more time appreciating the service.
God bless you my friend, I pray everyone can do more of what you are doing and regularly take their kids to church.

No it is not disrespectful...
I use to color in church when I was a little girl.
Just think, it is better than your kids getting up, fidgiting, screaming, etc. in the middle of a church service...
