Assume that you are browsing the net on your windows box. At the same time, you are chatting with your friend on the IM.
Now assume that due to some reason, the Internet Explorer goes a bit heavy on CPU and Memory (too many javascript/flash based windows open maybe)
Assume at the same time, your friend sends you a message and you need to reply to it. So you gotta wait for a couple of seconds before, the IM window comes up for you and you can type into it.

Now assume that you are playing games on your phone and you get a call. Irrespective of what game (and how memory intensive that game is), you will be notified of the call and the call can be accepted. There is very low waiting time here, since frankly, the phone call cant wait.

This is the difference between an OS and RTOS (Real Time OS)
Your phone possibly runs an RTOS but your computer (usually) does not!

Some situations just need a faster response and if your OS does not support it, you get stuck. RTOS is actually optimized for such a situation.

Hope this helps!

Burn the ISO image onto a blank dvd using any of the many software programs available eg Nero, Iso Magic, Alcohol 120 ect. If you are after a fresh install you must place burnt disc into drive, restart pc then change boot sequence to dvd rom 1st. Then simply follow setup intstructions. Notr this will format your hard drive so copy all files you want to keep to an external or disc b4 installing.

Real time OS's are used for like doppler radars. Something that is captured in "real time" or present time is considered to be one of these. Unfortunately, I havent been able to work w/ any of these yet.
