depends...is it a grayish color? does it smell? is it moving? if any of these throw it out. how many days has it been in fridge? more then 2 or 3 throw it out. if it still has color and doesn't stink and isn't moving.....cook it up. good luck with that.

These answers were all dumb. The beef won't brown in the sauce, which is to say it won't caramelize, it'll still cook completely through very quickly, faster than browning it in the frying pan. It also develops a different texture being boiled. Cincinnati chili is an example of a meat sauce where the beef is put right in to boil in order to cook it.

Beef should have a bright, cherry red color. Beware of any discoloration. A piece of beef that is turning green or brown has probably been the target of microbial contamination. Reject any beef that shows signs of freezer burns. A purplish color may mean that the beef has been under conditions characterized by a lack of air, or it can be a sign of spoilage. Inspect ground beef very closely because it is the most vulnerable to microbial contamination and deterioration.

discoloration is normal if fresh meat is exposed to air. However, if it develops a foul odor, or has a slimy substance on it, it's not fit to eat, even for a dog. Doesn't matter how well it's cooked, bad is bad. Toss it. Replacing it is a lot less expensive than treatment for food poisoning..

No! while you can kill the little critters that are sharing your food by cooking them , you cannot destroy the toxins that they have released as part of their normal life cycle.. In addition you are starting out with a very dangerous product'
File it under "G" for garbage

If you think it may be bad, then it probably is. I think I'd throw it out just to make sure than you don't make your family sick. It really wouldn't be worth that little bit of money.
