Mainly regional linguistics. Depending on their ancestry, settlers in Britain called wetlands by these and more names (scots "karse" for instance), and one region's bog may be another region's swamp. These terms predated consistent spelling, let alone scientific classifications.

They are not the same! They are very different eco-systems in which different types of organisms grow.

A bog implies peat. If you've ever been on a bog, you'll find that you are standing on dead matter over the water and if you bounce on it, it'll ripple. Thus, bog-bouncing. Of course, if you fall through, you're screwed! On the plus side, because of the high acid content, your body will be beautifully preserved. This is where you'll find cool carniverous plants growing.

A marsh is a transitional area between water and land. The vegetation you find there is mostly grasses, like rushes and cattails, and small shrubberies. There is also an ecosystem known as a salt marsh. Just like it sounds, it's just a marsh with salt water instead of freshwater.

A swamp is similar to a marsh, but it is characterized by trees. There's not alot of grass, and it's alot muddier because the trees block out the light.

Hope that helps!

there is a difference in appearance, abiotic conditions and vegetation composition, but for some people this makes no difference at all. so if all forests are the same to somebody, so all wetlands may be the same to the persom too. Some wetlands indeed smell just like rottentothecore´s p...y, some dont. see below the link- a more detailled definition of exactly what u were asking,
