I can't help but notice that a lot of times when a question is asked a good number of you never answer the question but jump on the person asking the question. Tell me, how does it help a person that is already in stress over some sort of something to have someone they do not even know belittle them for asking a question? Show some sympathy and compassion - you don't know all the facts - just answer the question.

The question is at the top, "WHY must a lot of you never really answer the question??" (but feel free to pick on the asker). Is asker a word? (thats not the question, btw)

I put this question here because here is where I often get response with a negative tone or jest. People ask questions to get an answer, not a reaming or to have someone tell them how lacking they are as a human being. Please do not get me wrong, a lot of you respond with compassion, but those few that feel they need to bash a person who is already feeling down just infuriate me.

The askers often have their own agendas which override the question of the asker. If you attend a meeting where several people are contributing to the dialog you'll see similar interaction.
It helps if the asker asks short clear questions with little room for the person responding to waffle. It also helps to ask the question in the correct category.
In the single "other" question you have asked about how to put a cat down, while not all answers were the best answer, only one was really off base.

okay just let me ask you one thing. Why on earth have you posted your so called question in the PETS SECTION. At least check before posting and yes I do agree with you. Some people really are jerks. They just answer for the sake of it but then you cannot deny it that some answers are really sensible and helpful to the person who has asked the question. So just be cool and continue the good work. At least you give proper answers if others don't.

Sometimes the question is so stupid it doesn't warrant a decent answer, sometimes it's hard to tell if the people asking silly questions are actually serious or not. I've seen some doosies in my time on Answers!, and some of them just have to be jokes because people can't be that stupid. There's a prime example recently, someone asking what to do because their baby is in a pot with eggs boiling on the stove. Really, do you think they deserve an answer??

I don't know. Maybe it is like putting an empty milk container back in the fridge. There's no good reason for it, and yet people everywhere do it. But I think I have to agree with someone who came before me here who said "Some people are just jerks." That's pretty much it. Try to ignore them.

I have wondered the same thing, and come to two conclusions.
1. Some people are just bored, angry or evil, and seem to have the need to vent on people who can't "fight back."
2. They are REALLY desperate for 2 points. Esp. the ones who say "I don't know, but'' and then make some inane comment.
You're right they ARE really rude.

usually people who cant actually answer a question appropriately means they lack intelligence.
or theyre some pissed off teenager who thinks theyre better than everyone else.

A lot of people like to post answers such as "you suck" or "you're stupid" just to get the points.
It's idiotic and those people should be reported.
