Not sure about the brain thing, but you have to eat healthily - not eating slows down your body's metabolic rate, making it even harder for you to lose weight. If you really want to lose weight and keep healthy try going vegetarian (you'll be healthier all round) and eat lots of fibre (absorbs water in the digestive tract and makes food easier to pass through and slows down the release of sugar into the bloodstream) and drink lots and lots of water. Exercise regularly - lots of aerobic exercise to get your heart pumping, and eat several small meals a day so that your body doesn't think that it's undernourised and starts storing fat cells.

Don't go on any crash diets, you can lose weight from it, but it won't be healthy for your body. One meal a day isn't good at all. If you want only one meal a day you could eat a big healthy meal. Not any junk food, but the brain it might, if you eat a very small meal.

I dunno about the brain but you will lose weight in the wrong places. Your body will start to store fat cells if it thinks it won't get enough food. Get some exercise and eat reasonably.
