At one point I was doing the whole online dating thing. This seemed to be pretty fruitless as I would spend hours sending out icebreakers and flirts only to get no response. At the same time, the women that found it necessary to flirt with me were soooo not my type it's not even funny. It's like they didn't even read my "ideal match". Am I somehow not as handsome as I thought? Why am I attracting the bottom of the barrel? Where are the attractive ladies? Check out my old posting on yahoo for more insight.

Maybe you are turing off the "desirable women" because you don't want more children and do not have a religous preference. Most attractive ladies like to be loved for their mind too, instead of just their bodies..After all eventually beauty fades...Then you either love a lady for her eternal beauty that she has forever, or you leave her for the next beauty until you see a better "eye candy" to latch on too. Maybe it is not your looks...it could just be you....

Well this does happen all the time but the flirts just come across as i want to be friends and get some on the side and really not keep the relationship thought they are not attractive big boned or whatever there character is it's fun to have them around then maybe when you go out with them to a club and the woman that are attractive will see you with someone that might be less attractive and that in deed you might be a nice guy they may start to cling to you it works.

I read your profile and it's pretty clear to me as to what you're looking for. I don't know why the ladies that you find attractive don't respond. Maybe it's your looks, maybe it's that they want kids,.. who knows.
Why not try a website that caters specifically to people who like cycling or sports? or one that caters to techies?
I don't think it has anything to do with the internet per se. One can be out all night and not see anyone that's appealing. There's probably a greater chance of meeting someone on the net than in one's hometown because one can narrow the search by priority.
