I'm a Christian. 666 is the mark of the Beast/Anti-Christ. You can read all about it in the book of Revelations in the Bible. In the future we will be given the choice of accepting the mark 666 and follow Satan. Or we will decline and chose to follow Jesus. This all leads up to the Appocalypse. Its only a few pages long, but I suggest you read all of them to understand what is going to happen regarding End Times, and has actually already begun. Reading just a couple of verses won't explain it. So read all of Revelations and you'll be amazed! Its not just a story...it's reality.

in Revelation chapter 13, the number 666 identifies a person, not a date. Revelation 13:18 tells us, "This calls for wisdom. If anyone has insight, let him calculate the number of the beast, for it is man's number. His number is 666." Somehow, the number 666 will identify the antichrist. For centuries Bible interpreters have been trying to identify certain individuals with 666. Nothing is conclusive. That is why Revelation 13:18 says the number requires wisdom. When the antichrist is revealed (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4), it will be clear who he is and how the number 666 identifies him.

6 + 6 + 6 = 18, 1 + 8 = 9. Nine is considered the number of imperfection, since no matter how multiplied always returns to itself. ( 9 x 3 = 27, 2 + 7 = 9), and thus is attributed to man, and mans fall.
But the correct number is actually six-hundred, threescore, and six, which can then be spelled out in a variety of manners and techniques. ( 666, 600606, 6002020206, etc )

Actually the 666 was misinterpreted. It's really 616 so all the hoopla about the '666' is bull. Overall, it probably indicates a circuit of thought where the two genders are separate by a line. A male dominated society for the last centuries has certainly been 'beastly' to innocents all over the world.

Rev.13:18 I will tell you plainly what I have learned of this number. 666 the number of the beast called a man meaning possibly a set of men or an institution headed by a man or set of men. It seems to mean a name the letters of which when regarded as numerals total 666. Irenaeus a pupil of Polcarp who was a pupil of John who wrote the book of Rev. understood the 666 to be the Greek word "LATEINOS" L is 30 /A is 1/ T is 300/ E is 5/ I is 10/ N is 50/ O is 70/ S is 200= add these letters and they come to 666. Lateinos means Laten Kingdom/ Papal Rome made Latin its official language and it is to this day. Rome's canons which are rules and laws of the Roman Catholic Church Rome's missals which are the Catholic Churches book containing the prayers and rites used by the priest in celebrating mass. Rome's decrees prayers bulls which are a papal documents with a seal on it. and Rome's blessings and cursings are all in Latin.[ HERE IS WISDOM]=Rev.14:1 and verse 12/ AND I LOOKED AND LO A LAMB STOOD ON THE MOUNT SION AND WITH HIM AN HUNDRED FORTY AND FOUR THOUSAND HAVING HIS FATHER'S NAME WRITTEN IN THEIR FOREHADS. HERE IS THE PATIENCE OF THE SAINTS HERE ARE THEY THAT KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS OF GOD AND THE FAITH OF JESUS.

The number is not a santanic number, it is the number of the beast, or anti-christ that is mentioned inRevelation 13:18 "Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for the number is that of a man; and his number is six hundred and sixty-six." It will not appear on the historical scene until the "Great Tribulation" which takes place after Jesus Christ returns and removed His Church from the earth. I would imagine that it would be almost impossible to find its meaning at this point in history but lots of people like to speculate.

There isn't much to tell. In Revelation, it is said that this is the mark of the beast. The number seven is suppose to represent the perfect number, and the number six, the most imperfect number. It has been said that God is 777, representing goodness and perfection, whereas, Satan/Devil is 666, representing evil.

The book Revelation in the Bibile is thought to have been written by the disciple John and according to the King James Bible, the traditional translation of the passage reads: "Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."
Revelation was actually a thinly disguised political tract, with the names of those being criticized changed to numbers to protect the authors and early Christians from reprisals. "It's a very political document," Dr. Aitken said. "It's a critique of the politics and society of the Roman empire, but it's written in coded language and riddles."
the number in question has very little to do the devil. It was actually a complicated numerical riddle in Greek, meant to represent someone's name
"It's a number puzzle -- the majority opinion seems to be that it refers to [the Roman emperor] Nero."
