God clearly says in the Quraan : Then Shaitan (Satan) whispered to him, saying : "O Adam! Shall I lead you to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that will never waste away?"
see Satan here used the word "Eternity"

He did not eat an apple at all. The bible only calls it "fruit". Popular culture has turned the fruit into an apple. But the point of the story is God gave Adam and Eve pleanty of things to eat from but forbid them to eat this one fruit. It is believed that the fruit was "the fruit of knowledge," which is why after eating from it Adam and Eve realized they were naked.
But it is just a fable, it is not fact.

I think that it was God's intention that he should have eaten from the tree of life. In order to stop him doing that naturally, the serpent had to get in quick...

Because as soon as he tried the one Eve gave him.......he felt like crap and didn't want to. He knew he wasn't suposed to but did it anyway.
