This one has baffled philosophers for centuries, so I can't answer. Why not start with this id link at Wikipedia, and branch out from there. You're searching for a Holy Grail though.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ego%2C_super-ego%2C_and_id
Don't read too much into Freud's stuff though. Much of it's largely discredited now.
Oh, and don't differentiate mind and body. One can't exist without the other. Don't make the mistake that the mind controls the body - stick a pin in yourself and discover how fallacious that is.
As for the last part of your question. That's easy. Ask your friends and family what type of person you are, and if they're honest you'll probably find a different person described by each one, none of who sound just like the you that you know.

You know what I reckon, theres a room with thousands and thousands of souls, and some have already had a life, and some are brand new. And a group of angels work in this room and everytime a child is conceived they pluck out a soul based on the parents and the culture and the society and that is the soul that you are born with. When you die your soul will go back to heaven where you stay there for a bit until you want to go back down to earth, or you can stay up there.
So now, you are a mixture between your soul, your mind, your body, your upbringing and everything else, and soon your body and mind will die and stay here, but your soul will disapear, and live forever!

You are mind operating through body, therefore, you are mind, you are body, and you are a third thing that births from the combination of the two - the 'I'.
The "I" you perceive is from your unique perspective. Every individual has a unique perspective of themselves and a unique observation of others, therefore, no, their version of your "I" is not quite the same as your's.
As for existing before birth and after death - probably, but not with a sense of 'I'-ness.

we will never know. it is like feelings - when you are happy, is it the same feeling of happiness that i feel?
this is something that language cannot cope with.
in my opinion, you are the body that you occupy, your mind, spirit and everything to do with your life, and everything that is associated with you.
okay im not really sure if any of that made real sense, but oh well, i hope it did

All I know is that you are most deffinately not me, because I am me:) the rest is a big? mark.
may philosophers, psychologists and other smart people have many definitions to who we are, so if they are undecided, then please don't expect me to know the correct answer:)
