"Have you stopped beating your wife yet?", although crude, is a question often given as an example of a loaded question - one that implicates the answerer however he answers:
'No' implies that he still beats his wife.
'Yes' implies that he used to beat his wife.
A person who has never beaten his wife cannot answer this question - unless he answers with the word 'mu', as suggested by the Buddha.
I don't think Oky is calling you a wife-beater. I think this user is trying to call your question loaded, but Oky might have explained the concept behind the question instead of just throwing it at you without an explanation.
Take care.

(sigh)
It was a childish remark, I admit.
And, often enough, responses to my own remarks have made me want to grab a pitchfork and a torch and do some huntin'.
Then I remember that I was the one who opened the floor to the masses of the world. And the masses do contain a few that are, sadly enough, a little slower on the thinking than they are on typing.
Take deep breath, and let it go.
Don't resort to name calling or bashing or picking a fight.
Just smile slightly knowing that, by not being the one to make such a remark, you are, if only for that, a better person than she was.
And stick your tong out at her screen name an' give her a big fat raspberry!
;0P~~~
Feel better?

BTW: I read her comment. Don't bother yourself.
BTW(again): EdSwayer-- really? I never heard that before. Huh. That's actually pretty neat. On that note, a big whopping of an explaination needs to be given with that exclamation, I'm thinking. Wonder if Oky is thinking that?

You are far from the first, and I know you will not be the last, to encounter these type of people here. I have had a few similar experiences like this too.
Just ignore them. They think they are being clever. But, chances are it is only some 12 year old with a brain the size of a walnut who thinks it's big to attack other people this way.
Breathe deeply, and move on dear. Good luck to you.

Some so-called Christians need education in personal manners and how to address the public. Being upset about her comments gives her a win-win situation. I know it is hard not to be upset but try and think " so what?" God is Love and she has shown you nothing but judgement and disrespect. In actual fact, she has (according to the Bible) heaped coals on her own head! I did not see your original question and her answer, but I hope you can get over someones ignorance and bad manners towards you. Best Wishes - Kay.

Does this person know you're a wife beater?
If not, perhaps you were coming across as very aggressive, like the sort of person who would beat his wife.
Best to deal with the aggressiveness first otherwise anybody meeting you will be put off your beliefs by the way you come across.

I was not the person who called you that but as a Christian I will apologize for them. It is not a nice way to treat someone and I am so sorry that they said that to you.Not all of us Christians are that hateful. Most I would say are not.

ah well, all i can say is if you pose a question for absolutely anyone to answer, you can possibly get any answer.
many of the threads have smart *** answers in them. you have to deal with it. You starting an entirely new thread on the subject makes you no better, it's just a feeble attempt to "get back" at someone who probably doesn't give a ****.
and me answering this question makes me no better either.

You are correct on all accounts. This person sounds like he/she was refering to the "wives being submissive to their husbands" verse in the New Testament. As usual, people's interpretations are incorrect. I can't say it enough, Jesus Christ lived among us to fulfill God's laws, not to enforce them. When someone strikes out at me because of me faith, I try to be patient with them and listen. Sometimes they are actually looking for answers and do not know how to ask. As a christian I have to give forgiveness to others. But, I do not have to condone that person's behavior not allow it in my life. As for all those people out there that think christians believe they are perfect, we are probably the most imperfect people on this earth and are very aware of it. Our faith in God is what helps us with those imperfections. You see; it is not possible for us to be perfect. God's loves us for striving for perfection and living by His word. I have always loved what Christ said about the children. Whatever we do to these, we do to Him. I believe with all my heart that christians try to hold themselves to a higher standard and treat others in a loving way because they know in their hearts they are hurting Christ. I am sorry this person hurt you, but it sounds like they are hurting more. You should pray for this person and ask God to bless them.

You've got to expect some idiot answers when you participate in such an open forum. I'd let it go. You don't want it to seem like you protesteth too much.
