- A look at the county-by-county voting map of the USA shows a mass of red with patches of blue in the metro areas. The 35% of America that lives in rural areas and small towns does not want to be governed, managed, and regulated by a central authority. Reagan and Goldwater's legacy of a modest and cheap central government lives on in the perceived goal of the Republican party. Those who choose personal responsibility for their lives and those who would like to work towards getting wealthy will vote Republican.
- The Democratic party is all about central management and a desire to create "fairness and equality" through the force of law. It has unfortunately degenerated to a party that represents the uneducated under the control of the overeducated. 60 years of throwing government money at societal problems has created a giant unmanageable mess and a large group of people who see themselves as victims who want some government program to help them out. At this point in time the victims and those who think they can help the victims by setting up large programs to help them will vote Democrat.
- The 2000 election was a choice between an unknown with a personal story of redemption or a weak and boring representative of an administration led by the most charming scoundrel in recent memory. Bush won through the electoral college and the fact that the Republican administration of the deciding state was allowed to make some choices. That's the way it goes in politics.
- The 2004 election was between a fairly inspiring but inarticulate quasi-liberal or an ineffective legislator with few known ties to everyday working life.
- We had a choice between the stupid party and the insane party.

I didn't realize anybody actually voted for him. The general population doesn't elect a Prez, the Electoral College does.
Americans aren't as stupid as we'd have the rest of the world believe.

Isn't it difficult to change leaders when there's a war already in progress? The population feels safer with someone that has been doing the management than an unknown, be it for these reasons of fear.
