I just tounge kissed my dog, then my cat. Fido tasted pretty fresh, but kitty had a slight fishyness about it. I would say Fido has sweeter, therefor cleaner teeth/mouth.

They both lick themselves so how can any dog or cat's mouth be cleaner? I always heard that I dogs mouth is cleaner then a human's mouth but I think it's just a figure of speech.

actually a dog has a cleaner mouth because they sweat from it and cats mouths are very infectious similar to a humans mouth, if u got bit by a cat or a human the next day it would be totally infected, i know ive been bit by both, and i was told by the doctor that humans and cats have the filthiest mouths of all

a dogs mouth is the cleanest dispite what you may have seen you would think otherwize licking there own butts and other unmentionable parts but a dogs mouth is also capable of producing healing properties if you get a cut and a dog licks the wound it will heal 5 times faster then any antibiotic cream. its a gross thing to see but a friend of mine eats after her dog and she says that there mouths are cleaner then ours she said shed rather eat after a dog then a human i guess it has something to do with the fact that you pretty much know where a dogs mouth has been god only knows what some humans do with theres.

Well I definately agree with ks_231984, a dog's mouth is cleaner. But be careful with cats, I had just eaten something one time and a cat smelled the food on my breath and it tried to lick inside my mouth! (it ended up licking my tooth) Toothpaste!!! I like Thomas C's answer though. It may not help you with your question, but it'll give you a laugh!

I actually watched a show about this topic on TV...and they said that a dog's mouth is even cleaner than our mouth. The cat licks his/her anus all the time...so I assume it's definitely not as clean as that of a dog.

well I have a dog and a cat ... I can tell you that they both lick their butts HOWEVER the dog likes to eat the cats poop sometimes therefore I believe the cats mouth is cleaner. Oh wait but sometimes the cat drinks out of the toilet... but at least it's after the toilet is flushed

A dogs mouth is cleaner because they have an antibacterial enzyme in their saliva even though it looks to be the dirtiest it is not. A cat on the other had is not the cleanest . so the answer to your question would be a DOG.

the answer is a dog.. but really....they all lick their butts so how clean is that anyway? its a silly technicality. cats spend more time grooming themselves, so i guess if you want to split hairs: a dog has a cleaner mouth but a cat has a cleaner butt! :)

Cat mouths are full of a lot more bacteria than dogs. Cat bites are treated much more aggressively by doctors than dog bites. I'm not sure why cats have more bacteria than dogs, but they both make great companions.;P
