Actually, linguists postulate that we think in a kind of 'thought-language' that can process several concepts simultaneously. The question of whether that 'thought-language' is innate, and international, is one of the biggest in modern theoretical linguistics. So is just what that 'thought-language' is and how it works.

For myself, when I'm thinking quickly, I presume that I'm using that language but also 'translating' it to English. When I speak a second language, though, I find that I am capable of 'thinking in that language' - which probably means I'm translating directly from 'thought-language' to the second language. As I speak more than one language in my day-to-day life, I'll find that I have dreams wherein a conversation is held. I'll remember everything about the topic of conversation, but I can't quite recall what language we were speaking!

I am a Chinese American, so it depends for me. If I am soaked in English (as is often the case), then yes, I think in English. But if I'm in China or at home, where my parents speak 95% in Chinese, then I tend to think in Chinese.

It really depends on what language your mind is "set" in at the moment, which in turn depends on what culture you are currently immersed in.

Probably, because what ever languauge they may know they might think that way. Sometimes your mind might speak in a differentnforiegn language and may not understand what their minding is speaking then, it will definetly all confusing and chaotic later on.

what other language would they be thinking in? French? Come on, we ALL know that we all think in American. They all just like to throw us with that chink talk. Even THEY dont understand that crap. WTF are you thinking?! Of COURSE they are 'talkin' Chinese in their mind' if they have lived in the culture long enough. I am surprised daily that people such as yourself are able to work the wonders of the internet. You piteous, sad piece of white, Appalachian trash.

Yes, of course. Most of them anyway. People who speak many languages sometimes think in other languages than their native one, but people who speak only one language of course think in that language.
