French Toast
From Diana Rattray,
Your Guide to Southern U.S. Cuisine.
This is a French toast recipe with eggs and bread.
INGREDIENTS:
4 eggs
1 teaspoon sugar, optional
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
10 to 12 slices white bread
butter
maple syrup or other syrup
PREPARATION:
Break eggs into a wide, shallow bowl or pie plate; beat lightly with a fork. Stir in sugar, salt, and milk.
Over medium-low heat, heat griddle or skillet coated with a thin layer of butter or margarine.
Place the bread slices, one at a time, into the bowl or plate, letting slices soak up egg mixture for a few seconds, then carefully turn to coat the other side.
Soak/coat only as many slices as you will be cooking at one time.
Transfer bread slices to griddle or skillet, heating slowly until bottom is golden brown. Turn and brown the other side. Serve French toast hot with butter and syrup.
Recipe for French toast serves 4.

Very simple: You beat up some eggs in a bowl just like you would if you were going to scramble them. You take pieces of bread and dip them into the egg and totally covering them with egg , then you fry the bread in a pan till it's golden brown.

You take several slices of bread. Put them aside. Beat several eggs together in a bowl and add some cinnamon or nutmeg which ever you like and mix that in. Dip the bread on each side into the egg mixture and then put it in a fry pan that has been sprayed or buttered for about a 11/2 mins on each side. Finish with syrup or butter if you like after cooking.

Mix once cup half and half with 2 eggs. whisk together with one teaspoon vanilla. For the best French toast, use a baguette, stale, sliced into one-half inch pieces, otherwise use any stale bread. Heat butter in an iron skillet. Dip bread pieces in the egg mixture. Make sure both sides are covered with mixture. Place in skillet. Cook over medium heat until both sides are golden brown.

Add some cinnamon to the batter before dipping the bread. Its delicious! You are also better off using Hallah bread..just make sure the batter is well absorbed.
