It is truly a wonderful name. The commandment states "Thou shall have only one God" Naming a child God is a sin. And, personally, I don't think your child would thank you for the controversy.

Great idea, unless his surname is Damit. Also, be careful - look what it spells backwards!
We're made in God's image, so why the devil shouldn't we have His name? In Spain a lot of blokes are called Jesus.

God wouldn't be so amused. "Though shalt not tempt the Lord thy God" also he would be harassed all of his life. Some names are too holy to be given out.

I read about someone who legally got their name changed to god. But if you want him to share his name with someone else, then go for it.
