Praying to Mary or any other saint is the same as asking a friend to pray for you. We Catholics believe that we are not divided. If your grandmother prayed for you while she was alive don't you think that she would continue to pray for you when she was in Heaven? That is how we feel about Mary. And yes all prayers are answered. At the cross Christ said to Mary and John "Woman behold thy son, son behold thy mother" that is why we believe Mary is the spiritual mother of all Christians.

Absolutely not! To pray to anyone but our living God (The Father, Son and Holy Spirit), would be considered worshiping idols. God is a jealous God, as he speaks about in the book of Exodus. NOWHERE in Scripture does God instruct us to pray to anyone or anything but Him! As a matter of fact, He instructs us NOT to pray to any other God or thing.
Only God can answer prayers. Mary was a human being. She was not God nor could she ever receive prayers from anyone and act on them. God would never honor or answer a prayer that was not directed towards Him and Him alone.

No i do not pray to Mary there is a protestant christian and the is catholic christian! if you pray to Mary that certainly means you are a catholic christian. But you might not get answered prayers if you believe in Mary but if you are a protestant christian and you believe in Jesus you answer may be a yes no or maybe it depends on the question you give, if it is bad the answer might be a no etc...

The key subject is what was the significance of Mary the mother of Jesus?
Mary, her life on earth, as far as the Bible has established was that she found favor in GOD'S sight. HOWEVER Mary personally had to accept Jesus as her LORD and SAVIOR also!!
The word of God in no shape, way, or form expresses Mary as being divine, a intercessor, or an object of worship.
Also The Bible say not to pray to the dead. CHRIST IS ALIVE AND WELL!!
Ecc 9:5 For the living know that they shall die: but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Only the blood of Jesus could reconcile us to Father, and Christ makes intercession on our behalf.
Rom 8:34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

I have to say a big AMEN to what Debbie S said. I am not catholic but then I would never be. I've heard it's the anti-christ. Just a speculation however and I don't know enough about that to make a statement of which way I am going on it, but I do know that Jesus is the way to the father. Not mary!

No. God wants to hear my prayers.
Mary was the mother of Jesus, but she is not a God, nowhere in the Bible does it say to Pray to her.
She was a great woman, and we can learn much from her, being such a blessed woman of the Bible. But she is not to be prayed to.

No. The Bible refers to that as idol worship. We are to only pray to God. If Mary was here she would tell us to not pray to her but to pray to God only. Prayer is a form of worship which only God deserves.

I was a R.C. not anymore though, and I definitely do not pray to mary. I will refer to her life story and just say to myself, " Wow what an incredible story ". But no more than the stories of Noah , and Joseph son of Jacob, or apostle Paul, Peter or especially John. I think they were all incredibly special people. So then so was my stepfather and my niebour once. So then should I pray to all of them ...?

Jesus told me in His Word that He is the way the truth and the light, no one come to the Father but by Him. So I do not pray to Mary. I pray to the "Father in Jesus' name. Sometimes I talk directly to God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

NO, and I have never understood why Catholics do so. It doesn't say anywhere in the Bible to pray to Mary or anyone else for that matter.
