That's really tough to say, but I'd list the top 10

1) Ernie Shavers
2) George Foreman
3) Mike Tyson
4) Sonny Liston
5) Razor Ruddock
6) Rocky Marciano
7) Jack Dempsey
8) Joe Louis
9) Julian Jackson
10) Thomas Hearns

Teolfilo Stephenson was a great puncher, but since he never fought pro bouts, I can't rank him.

I like your call on Teofilo Stevenson though - he's vastly underrated.

I like many of the calls above. Marciano's record says he hit pretty hard, but I'm too young to have ever seen him fight.

I saw all Tyson's fights though - wow. No one I've seen compares. Maybe Samuel Peter? He's got a huge punch.

Earnie Shavers and George Foreman are also contenders in this discussion.

There are some great hitters in the lower weight classes now too... I love the way Hatton hits. He's all power.

Kostya has a great right hand too - ask Judah! LOL

Interesting question... subjective to who is doing the answering as far as what you will get for an answer. Ask anyone (if still alive) how it felt to be hit by Rocky Marciano. He was known to hit an apponent so hard in the arms that by the forth round, they were defenseless against the barrage that followed on their head. All things considered, and with training regimes being what they are today, Mike Tyson was as hard a hitter as any. Honorable mention to big George Foreman...

Good Question.

I would have to guess George Forman. Look at the Frazier v. Forman fight. That might be the most obnoxious display of punching power I recall seeing. And Big George was the challenger in a championship fight. Although, Larry Homes said, after being ko'd by Mike Tyson, that Ernie Shavers hit harder than Tyson.

probably Max Baer, he killed one or two guys, Ezzard Charles also had great power and killed a man in the ring. Dempsey hit hard and was known for rock hard fists. and Rocky Marciano's shot to the head of old Jersey Joe Walcot is thought by many to be the hardest punch to ever connect but Max Baer had tremendous power

Jack Dempsey. He was one hard fisted fellow. He worked hard and he was even known for challenging any man on the street to beat him. He always won. Second place is Rocky Marciano. Tyson and Hearns were hard hitters but I'm gonna stick with Dempsey.

Ruben "Rock-a-bye" Olivares had a record at one time, of
60-0-1 with 56 knockouts.. he had streaks of 22 and 27 knockouts.

his first loss, was due to cuts from headbutts .. i'm not sure
ko's are a good indication of how hard a person hits.. but, this guy
was a hard, hard puncher in the batam and featherweight division..
