After living in England for a year I don't blame them for wanting to move. The GBP has a great exchange rate against the dollar so it makes it cheaper to move. Also there are a lot of wasted tax dollars in the UK, not that there aren't in the US but the taxes in the US seem more logical...ie no TV tax (200 some odd pounds a year just to own a TV), or hose tax (tax for owning a garden hose), or the fact that 75% of the price of petrol is taxes.

The main reason is "That the English Way of Life" is going down the tube. There are the millions of foreigners in the form of asylum seekers and illegals added to the Home Grown Teenage hooligans so that it is no longer safe to take a midnight stroll. Cry My Beloved Country.

I'm not one of these people who have left, but I am one of these people who are leaving, I will be in new South Wales in about two years time, the reason? better quality of life, my family are all there and the tax upon tax upon tax upon stealth tax in this country is making me crazy, the council taxes are crippling me, the petrol prices are crippling me, the parking and congection charges are crippling me, i would be better off on the dole than at work, and the amount of asylum seekers and illegals flooding into the country and blair letting them do it is another thing I hate about this country we are tooo soft

To look for greener pastures, for better job opportunities and for adventure just like when the early English colonizers came to America to live there permanently.

I know several British people that moved here to Japan and (more so them than the other nationalities) I've heard in a number of cases that they're not much interested in ever going back. They say there's nothing to offer them there and they're happier here.

but hey, to each his own....
