I think you have two terms mixed up, it can be either....
"SO MOTE IT BE" = It is so... or Amen.
or
"SMOTE" = past tense of SMITE - or to hit
I don't think "smote it be" means anything.
This very archaic language and not used much any more.

'so mote it be' is the formula of words modern wiccans use at the end of most of their spells. it is bogus early modern english and means 'please let this happen'.
wiccans say this in a language nobody speaks (and probably nobody ever did) because if they admitted to themselves that their entire religion is just wishful thinking even they might be ashamed of it.

I think you are looking for "So mote it be..." Its what we Wiccans say after a Spell or prayer and so on...... if thats not what you ment sorry.
