My son is in Iraq, and I dispise the media, except for Fox because they show me good things besides the bad. A friend sent me this today about our guys over there. The YOU doesn't mean you of course.

A LITTLE PERSPECTIVE

Your alarm goes off, you hit the snooze and sleep for another 10 minutes. He stays up for days on end.
-- --
You take a warm shower to help you wake up. He goes days or weeks without running water.
-- --
You complain of a "headache", and call in sick. He gets shot at, as others are hit, and keeps moving forward.
-- --
You put on your anti war/don't support the troops shirt, and go meet up with your friends. He still fights for your right to wear that shirt.
-- --
You make sure you're cell phone is in your pocket. He clutches the cross hanging on his chain next to his dog tags.
-- --
You talk trash on your "buddies" that aren't with you. He knows he may not see some of his buddies again.
-- --
You walk down the beach, staring at all the pretty girls. He walks the streets, searching for insurgents and terrorists.
-- --
You complain about how hot it is. He wears his heavy gear, not daring to take off his helmet to wipe his brow.
-- --
You go out to lunch, and complain because the restaurant got your order wrong. He does not get to eat today.
-- --
You make your bed and wash your clothes. He wears the same things for months, but makes sure his weapons are clean.
-- --
You go to the mall and get your hair redone. He doesn't have time to brush his teeth today.
-- --
You are angry because your class ran 5 minutes over. He is told he will be held an extra 2 months.
----
You call your girlfriend and set a date for that night. He waits for the mail to see if there is a letter from home.
-- --
You hug and kiss your girlfriend, like you do everyday. He holds his letter close and smells his love's perfume.
-- --
You roll your eyes as a baby cries. He gets a letter with pictures of his new child, and wonders if they'll ever meet.
-- --
You criticize your government, and say that war never solves anything. He sees the innocent tortured and killed by their own government and remembers why he is fighting.
-- --
You hear the jokes about the war, and make fun of the men like him. He hears the gun fire and bombs.
-- --
You see only what the media wants you to see. He sees the bodies lying around him.
-- --
You are asked to go to the store by your parents. You don't. He does what he is told.
-- --
You stay at home and watch TV. He takes whatever time he is given to call and write home, sleep, and eat.
-- --
You crawl into your bed, with down pillows, and try to get comfortable. He crawls under a tank for shade and a 5 minute nap, only to be woken by gun fire
-- --
You sit there and judge him, saying the world is a worse place because of men like him. If only there were more men like him.

News media forms are usually run by liberals..the NRA tried to make its own news channel, but I dont really know what the outcome of that was but I dont see it anywhere
Misery sells in the news..I use to chat on line with a girl from Isreal ears ago, before the war in Iraq, when the news was always reporting about the problems there..when I asked her, she said there is plenty of good thing that happen every day that never get to the US news...

it is up to the families of the troop to post those good stories of what their great children are doing and seeing there, for everyone to read and pass on..I know I would read them

that's the way of the news. it's the same with local stories. 3/4 of the local news here is how people shot or stabbed each other, car accidents, rape, etc etc.

i'm guessing the reason it's like this is because shock value gets the news higher ratings and higher ratings means more $$.

i saw a commercial for a local evening news program once that went something like this: "CAN THE BREAD YOU'RE EATING KILL YOU?! FIND OUT TONIGHT AT 10"

the news media outlets claim that they're just giving their audicence what it wants. if this is true, then we're all to blame for the crap we're being fed under the guise of "news".

Because blood sell. No one wants to know that we built over 200 schools in Iraq and Afghanistan. No one wants to hear that women in Iraq and Afghanistan has the freedom to vote. No one see the smiles of the Iraqi and Afghan children on their face when we walk by them. No one wants to know that. We have a lot of ignorant people here in the US who does not want to hear that! I've been there, I've done that. I've seen it. I know the results. We are doing a good job over there. For closing...

The Soldier

It is the Soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier,
who salutes the flag,
who serves under the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.

It would have to be credited to the extreme left wing bias the media carries these days. They would rather report that towel heads are blowing up markets than tell us that we are building schools, and giving modern text books to the Iraq children.

because bad things are popular as sad as it sounds..people love gossip they love to hear negative..its borring to people to hear about good things..they want soemthing to get excited about something interesting..it sad because being a military brat myself our relatives/friends should be applauded for there excellent work but i guess we have to be the ones to show them appreiciate when no one else will be blind to doing so..yes these men and woman are doing above and beyond taking care of us and our country and they arnt getting enough congrats as they should..and its sad..because without them putting there life on the line everyday what would this country look like? bad things..negative things..attract people more then good things attract people..news wouldnt be the news if they talk about positive good things all the time..
