Some of my dummy friends think it's unnecessary!

It depends on what kind of date, and what's your intention towards the girl.

If it's an official you-dated-her-out thing and you are serious about her being your gf, then I feel the guy should send her home for the following reasons:
- It's a gentlement act.
- You want to leave her a good impression.
- Ensuring her safety esp at night, in anyway if the parents happen to know, they'll have a good impression too.
- You get to steal more time chatting with her during the trip.

However, my bf did not send me home on the 1st date!
He went out to meet his friends after that.. Hmm.. Since we were not officially together i did not really mind..

Yes because if on the first day she's willing to stay , she Might be willing to do everything ... And then you can use her as a booty call whenever , and find a lady that would be upset if you asked her anything like that on a first date . Your friends aren't dummies , they give respect to the ladies that demand it .You should ask her do you want to come over tonight or would you rather I call you tomorrow. Now if she said stay , then just try to hold each other , she might really only want that .That's okay . But if she starts to become too touchy , you make the choice Do you want to go for someone that doesn't know you ? AIDS is a problem in the world ! If you see she is that willing , say I just wanted to talk more and to get to know about you .She'll stop and feel embarrassed " Hopefully " . But keep looking for that one lady that would rather have you call her tomorrow .And stay over after a few Dates .....

S e n d ? her home ? Dating 1st Date?
1st date is usually occupied with talking and getting to know each other finding out about the person.
Two people starting out the is a beginning attraction whether just for a short mutual understanding of just sex (why waist time dating) or involvement and commitment of taking your time to know someone believe me the later is a far higher plane of sex than getting you rocks off.

Yes. It is gentlemanly to offer to see the girl home safely.

But if declined, at least see that she gets on a taxi, and make it obvious that you have taken note of the taxi number. (as that the taxi driver dare not play play). Offer to pay for the taxi ride too.

If she is waiting for someone to pick her up, stays with her until her ride arrives.

um, as in give them a ride home? I would never let a guy give me a ride home unless I was dating him. Too many risks. There are so many good guys out there, but you have to be so careful because of the creeps and a**holes. I think your friends are actually pretty smart. I don't want to be raped or murdered, thanks! :D
