I'm almost done with my highschool finals and I have to choose a carrier. Even if my dream is to become a surgeon, everyone else is making me believe it's not worth it. It's true, I have to study a lot, but what do you think? Should I pursue my goal?

No, you should not try to live your dream. You should just go ahead and LIVE YOUR DREAM!!! For years I shyed away from my career in music because people told me, "You can't make any money in music." Well, I got a job that I hated that provided a decent income, and I was entirely miserable. It got to the point where I would rather have died than continue on at a place that was destroying the environment and my ear-drums. Now God has provided a way for me to not only enjoy my work in music, but also to be able to help others and bring them pleasure at the same time. LIVE YOUR DREAM! TAKE YOUR FREEDOM! Don't let them take your freedom away from you!

"Find a job you love to do, and you'll never have to work a day in your life." (A wise man said that. Let's see if anyone knows who.)

One should be practical in life, if you thing that your becoming a surgeon is feasible and possible then you should go ahead. If you just want to become a surgeon because it's your fantasy then I think you should have a re-think. Explore all the alternatives you have and then make an educated decision, you can consult your well-wishers, elders too.

Why not? If you have talent, are prepared to work / study hard, have liking for it, it is your dream and you have means to accomplish it, then go ahead. It may not be worth from other people's point of view but by not following your own career choice you will not be much happy. If you think your choice will make you happy then it is all right. May be, you will have to study hard, may be you will not get paid much, but by materialising your dream you will definitely have peace of mind and satisfaction.

BEST LUCK !

Yes! And it is so worth it- if not for a surgeon, I wouldn't be alive today- neither would many other people! So there is huge job satisfaction. Oh, and, you make megabucks- so that ought to combat the stress.

YES! if you dont, then you will regret it! I know I want to be a plastic surgeon and I am gonna go through with it cuz if I dont, I know I will regret it because I could have been so much more... I say go for it! and it will be so much easier to pay off the student loans...

Live your dreams! This is your life. Truly, working hard for your dreams gives a great pay-off........and I am not talking monetarily. The worst thing is looking back on a life where you have regrets, because you did not do what you wanted to!

my cousin is doing the same thing, and he was also told its hard work and to give it up. He just decided, its what he wants to do.
Why do something that ure not as passionate about?
why sould other people tell u what to do with ure life? i mean, u might not be as happy...
i say go for it!
im also finishing high school and people have told me not to be an interior designer, but to be a doctor like them. I dont want to, cause im not passionate bout that, and im squeamish.
anyways, as i said, id go with YOUR choice, wichever one YOU make,ok? ;)

Its left up to you.

Follow what your heart says to you. You own YOUR life and YOU choose your career according to your inner heart's saying.

Think what'll be the best for you.

But remember, choose a career which is favoured by you.

If you choose your fav career you will do well in it and excel!!
