j/k everyone feel free to answer.
This section of this forum is for everyone, so why the "Christians only!!!" questions?
It alienates others, and it is rude... very very rude.
I can answer many "Christians only" questions that I have seen lately...
For instance, this is a popular one... fave Bible verses.
My favorite Bible passage is the 23rd Psalm, because it is just beautiful poetry, with peaceful imagery. I love it.
Point is, many of us have been Christians, and we understand everything you are talking about. Many of us know the Bible well and even enjoy parts of it as well as parts of Christian wisdom/philosophy.
Why limit your answers and therefore what you might learn?
Besides, just as Christians are reading this and will likely answer, so will non-Christians when we see, "Christians ONLY!" So, what's the point?
That's why, if I wanted to pose questions to agnostics only, I'd go to an agnostic forum.

Valkyrie... I think they were embarrassed by truth. Oh well... you can only plant the seeds of tolerance and hope they grow.

anjlkisz - are you saying that you once didn't believe in Christ and now you do? If so, I am sad for you, too.
Nah, not really... actually it's great if that's what makes you happy and is what you believe.
Good thing I'm not so condescending and ignorant that I would actually feel pity for your beliefs. It's the condescension and ignorance that I pity you for.

Even when I was a Pagan, I knew the Bible pretty well. I still studied it out of interest. I found it was an interesting book, and I loved the poetry aspect of it all. Of course as a Pagan, I did not believe that Jesus was the Son of God. ( I've since turned my heart to the Lord Jesus Christ and Have a much deeper understanding of the Bible)
I do understand, why the "Christians Only" thing, although I read many questions.
In the Beginning, when I first started on yahoo answers, I quickly learnt that many people like to bash religions on here, and people post gross, hateful and negitive things in Christian questions for no reason. I guess I've learnt to expect it on here.
If you put a question out like " Christians, what is your favourite verse in the Bible". Many christians will answer with genuine answers. Non-christians will answer aswell with some great heartfelt answers too. Unfortunately some non-christians will post rude comments that have nothing to do with the question. Sexuial comments, religion bashing, off topic remarks, disrespectful posts.
If you leave a question open to "Whats you favourite verse in the Bible, it seems to be a magnet for even more nasty comments.
So I guess I can see why people post " Christians only"
But I'm sure they mean " Christians Only, or Respectful people that wont bash their religion"
Oh and my favourite Psalm is...Psalm 19 1-9
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.

I am a baha'i.
We teach our children as much about as many different religions as possible so that, when they are old enough, they can make an educated decision for themselves as to which faith they will follow.
Point?
These particular Christians who do the "CHRISTIANS ONLY!!!" thing seem either terrified that we others will simply drag them down to the deepest pits of hell, or they are so arrogant they don't think they can learn anything from anyone else.
In my dealing with Christians, as well as some others, I find that they are quite shocked at this. They seem to think that exposure to those different are sure to send them straight down the path to whatever begotten realm that they happen to believe in. Or that anyone who thinks different are puppets of the devil. Or, simply put, wrong.
I suppose I don't understand why such a group comes to a Q&A forum. Or any forum for that matter.
This is a place to discuss, debate, and exchange ideas.
Yet they want to discuss, debate, nor exchange any ideas.
Perhaps they don't realizing that the individual search for truth does, on occasion, result in individual point of views &/or interpretation.
Without individual POV and interpretation, what really would there be for any of us anywhere of any religion, nationality, gender.... have to learn?
You know... just my P.O.V.
The Chronicler
Please Note: I'm not saying that the bases of Christianity is wrong. Fact is, the Baha'is are as much Christian as we are Muslim, Jewish, or any of the previous religions.
PPS: So how many folks are gonna run from here to hit EVERY "Christians Only" question they can find?
Besides me?

Christianity is not a religion.
Oviously anyone can answer any question they want to.
"Christians Only" might be a deliberate way for a person to get what they didnt ask for. An oblique way.
I hate roller coasters, but I'd read a "Roller Coaster Riders Only!!!" question. And if the question involved anything I might have experienced in a fast elevator, then I might have something to say.
If "Christians Only!" is an oblique request then it is dishonest and of course its going to make people unhappy with Christians.
But how bout just that one.

I think that for these Christians, who do alienate others, the religion is not so much about true spiritual salvation as it is part of their tradition and community bond. It isn't possible to seek wisdom with a closed mind, the very search will make you broaden your thinking. So that can't be their goal.
By saying "Christian only", they are making themselves feel secure by reminding themselves that they are part of a group. Kinda like wearing Abercrombie clothing. lol.
I'm glad someone else gets aestheic enjoyment out of the bible instead of strict codes of conduct. Cheers!

Amen Brother? Sister? My favorite the Song Of Solomon, great images of love and sex, OK poetry. You got a point and made it, too. I usually make a point of answering the whatever only questions of at all possible, but I do at least read them. Why don't you do this for the "Don't Click Here" guy. Many would find it refreshing. Thank you, again.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I see this forum as a great opportunity to open up honest, healthy and respectful discussions or debate on the subject.
Unfortunately, with the Internet being public territory, you will encounter all kinds of people, just as you would on the street, only here people are more of acquaintances than strangers and state their opinions more freely.

Perhaps these people want answers from people who believe the same way that they do. Not from people who "used to" believe that way. Not from people who only think they know what they're talking about. Believe it or not, no matter how much you've studied or what your favorite poetic example might be, there are things you can't relate to if you don't believe the same way another person does. That would be my motivation, anyway, were I to post such a question.

Ok, that's more of a statement than an answer, but you're right. As for why people do it....... I would imagine it's because some people like the fell like their special and they seem to believe that being special means you can thumb your noses at the people you consider to be other than special and would therefore only want to talk with people you consider like yourself........

You make a fair point. This is a free for all so you should be able to answer any questions you like. Sometimes people want to focus their questions towards certain people which is ok but everyone should feel free to answer them.

Take care.
