I check my kids sites daily. They are aware of this. It is just responsible parenting to do so. I check to make sure they do not have friends they do not know and to make sure there is no information that is identifying. It is a dangerous place, but can be safe if a parent is there to supervise them.

Of course. Its on a public website. I'd monitor it to make sure my child and the people talking to my child were not doing anything to be suspicious of. After the deal with the 14 yr old that went on a airplane to her myspace buddy, of course I'd check! Its not at all like going through her things! If its public, a parent can and should keep an eye on it!

YES!! After all they should not be posting anything they didn't want you to see anyway. The biggest problem with sites like that is the main people using them are naive kids. By the way, parents, CAN get into there kids accounts without there approval. Also if they are under 14 years old, there account can be canceled by the parent WITHOUT the child's permission. Once that happens they CAN NOT create another one. If you do a search on google.com for "problems with myspace.com" you'll find all the reasons, NOT, to have your kids on there anyway.

Absolutely--I am a tryrant. I am not that concerned about where my kids go--but I am concerned about the traffic they encourage.
I have software that tracks where they go. If they are going to places that might be inapproaritate and they don't talk about it--then we talk about it together. I sample e-mail and messages--if there is something inappropriate--we talk about it.
--if there are repeat problems then there is punishment.
My daughter had posted something on her myspace that I thought was asking for trouble. She took it down. Two days later it was there--and she got paddled.
I think any parent that dosen't do this or something similar is just nuts---there are just too many potential problems.

I think yes because you really need to know what your kids are doing and into but I would first ask like say maybe "hey lets look at your myspace profile page" or act like you want to make one of your own and want ideas for it. Then if they say no they don't want to show you they are hiding stuff.

Yes, the main problem with myspace is that the childrens parents don't monitor it enough.

I would read the things that my son keeps public, just to make sure he wasn't giving out to much private information. In fact I do that with my teenaged sisters right now, but they have me on their friends list so I can comment on everything that their "friends" can see too.

Yes, everyone else can, why should a parent be an exception. If the little kiddies want to have there secrets they shouldn't post them in a public forum.

Absolutely! The child should know that anything on the computer is free for the PUBLIC To view, so definatly you will view it just the same!!! Anything that they would want to hide from you, they should not post online for the rest of the world to see either!

Isn't MySpace a public document? If so, ANYONE should be free to read it, including you.
