We'll be taking him to the doctor in the next day or so, but does anyone know what this is? 4 yr old son was sleeping outdoors in a stroller on Sunday. He had bright rash on his face hands and legs. It went away after a couple hours. Since then everytime he has napped he has woken up with the rash again in slightly differentl places. He tends to get hot and sweat when he naps. But it hasn't been too hot here recently. Rash is red swollen with distinct edges, not spotty. Looks like hives. He has no real allergies. But maybe it a continued reaction to some bug bite he got. Or maybe a virus -- Rosiola (sp?). Or maybe just a reaction to the heat -- heat rash. Any thoughts from Yahooooooooers?

I have a friend who's a Pediatrician. My son was having something similar. It was a somewhat mild rash that'd go away after a few hrs but reappear in a diff. spot. She said this happens randomly & they dont really know why. Its a harmless rash, doesnt hurt the child, and there's nothing they can really do about it. I cant remember what she called it though.... Since I've been letting my son sleep in only his diapers & with the ceiling fan on, he hasnt been getting the rash so i'm thinking this was heat related. You might try this.... Good luck!

My son was terribly rashy. I switched to a detergent to clean clothes that has no fragrance, and I skipped the softener all together. I stopped using any bubble bath. Think about the chemicals in the clothes, blanket, stroller that he could have come in contact with. The other thing to consider is his diet. My son would break out after eating fresh strawberries.

To relieve the rash and itchiness, have him bathe in lukewarm water with baking soda (about 1-2 cups). Cortaid is a good anti-itch cream.

Good luck!
