I think of Linux and Windows as an Indy racing car[linux] and your regular car[winblows I mean windows].

See, there is no way your regular run of the mill off the showroom floor car can ever really compete with or perform like an Indy racing car. But, in order to get the Indy car at peak performance, you have to really know how to set up. So, my answer is no, Linux is not going anywhere...well except possibly one day the route of Apple--meaning Microsoft buys out competitors it can't out compete.

hey did you hear about the new Microsoft Vacuum Cleaner??!!
Yeah, it'll be their first product that doesn't suck.

Microsoft is based on a one-way street.

They focus on creating a single uniform update instead of giving users a choice of which path they would like to travel.

Linux offers users INFINITE paths, even the ability to make their own.

That is why linux will never be out, it can be anything you want it to.

So to answer your question, no, as a matter of fact, linux is becoming more IN in the IT world.
