I am not a doctor, but if the shot has worked, it should protect you. You need to take a test for antibodies to be sure. But it won't protect you against other forms of Hepatitis, and usually someone who has Hepatitis B can also have A, C, etc, plus HIV, VD, and so on. So you must always use a condom.

I'm an RN, after the 3rd dose your antibody should be checked and you might need a booster dose. Although it gives you some protection but if you knew that you were in contact with a person with Hep. B you will be given an immunoglobulin.
