Do you know his fave band or movie? You can find tons of stuff from ebay that you can't find in stores.
You could also do something creative too, you know, if he likes say "The nightmare before Christmas", you could make him a cake with Jack Skeleton on it.

A spider web! No, just kidding. You can pick the easy route and go to Hot Topic and get him a kickin' gift card. That way he can pick what really suits him. If he's into music, get him a gift certificate to a music store. Gift certificates work well and show the person you know what they like.

find out what he likes, if u dont know him that well ask his friends or look on his myspace or website if he has one. here are some random ideas tho, i think ur best bet is to go to a goth style store like hot topic or look on ebay...
- a cool lighter if he smokes or has candles
- insense kit
- chunky spiny necklaces and bracelets
- favorite band tshirt
- colored lights for his room in green or yellow or a black light
- simply a gift card to wear he shops
- u might find some cool vintage goth-looking things at a 2nd hand store
- colored shoe laces (my friend does this)
- new rings for any of his piercings
- colored hair gel (i've seen used to spike it)
