If a mother loses her husband to cancer at a pretty early age(49) and they had a son together, when is it okay to date again. I'm 39 years old. Not exactly over the hill; hubby has been gone for three years. Just want to know what people think. We have a big family and it isn't as though my son doesn't have any father figures in his life. But people tell me to move on. I really do want to grow old with someone.....eventually.

For sure. Get out there and start dating again. Since you're a mom you probably don't have all the time in the world to hang out at locations where men will be, besides the supermarket, I'll give you a few sites.

Match.com is prety good and is similar to Yahoo personals. You can post a free personal ad on both match and yahoo. You just can't write any text emails and are instead forced to respond with prewritten messages.

Another one is called www.mate1.com This site is 100% free for women and you get EVERYTHING men are forced to pay for. It also allows you to answer a whole bunch of fun/interesting questions about yourself as well as post pictures.

Another idea is to go to www.eharmony.com I had a bad experience with the first woman I met off of there. However, the one I'm seeing now is like the female version of me. Hell, our birthdays are even 2 days apart.

There's someone out there for you. Remember that your husband would want you to do what makes YOU happy. He would want you to find another perfect man that cherished you the way he did. Good luck in your search.

I personally think that after three years it would be appropriate for you to begin to see men again. I guess in the final analysis the question should be are you through mourning your loss and could you carry on a responsible relationship with a fellow with out making him suffer along with you. Go out and be happy. Look to the future not the past.

ive heard that a year is long enough to grieve. after that id say do it when you feel ready. 3 yrs is a long time. if your son resents your new friend youll have to work around it. its your life and your happiness. your son will get older and move away someday dont waste all that time.

my uncle is 55, his wife dyed of a heart attack and he was dating only a few months after....we all thought it was too quik but thought that it was selfish for us to think that. He was the one spending lonely nights at home alone.....its all about you....do what you feel like...

Instead of searching for a husband at this point of life...search for a person who can also become your soulmate.....inspite of the fact if u marry him or not..........and go ahead in life...there is more to it and enjoy...........
