these are real easy to rebuild. buy the kit for about 15bucks can of carb cleaner for three. take it apart and spray cleaner through all the little holes then blow compressed air through them. put it all back together you miight want to fill the gas resevoir a little. nothing to it. why don't you try? oh ya' wear protective gloves an eye protection.

If you do not want to spend that much money then you might try checking with a mechanic shop to see what they would charge to rebuild the carburator if you provide all the parts. You can go to just about any auto parts store such as auto zone and buy or order a kit alot cheaper than buying a kit from the factory. If rebuilding this one is not an option then You might try looking in a wrecking yard. The carburator should be easy to find in a wrecking yard.I beleive the 1978 jeep cheroke's had a ford drive train and that should be a common part in the wrecking yards.

good luck.
