Is it a newer Akai rear projection (CRT)? If that is what you have then it is actually a bottom of the line Samsung. I work on a lot of them and generally it's either the convergence output board or one of the CRTs have arced and took out a driver board. The main problem is that the repair is board level and availability of parts from Korea. The servicer must make sure that he uses the service model # not the TVs model # or else he will get a incorrect board.

Sadly yes. Akai is not Japanese as some might thing., but a Chinese firm that owns the name. They are basically giving you the run around until the warranty expires, they never have parts, because they don't stock any. If you can return your set to retailer, do so now.

Normally you may have a very good reason in selecting and owning an AKAI tv. the brand is now phase-out where in considered as instinct.here in my country, the brand name akai does not exist any more.be wise, return it now, dont wait till its to late. or trade it with another brand more common on your place.it is much reliable on parts and service..
