My dog died almost 2 months ago and I really miss him. I live in the mountains and one day he slipt through the fence and got killed by coyotes (he was only two). My nanny took him everywhere with her never let me be with him. I sort of feel like she stole him from me and I think about him all the time. My parents got a Bull dog and at first a hated her but by the end of the day I loved her. We would have kept her but my mom was really allergic to her so we couldn't. I don't want a new dog because I miss my old one to much and I'm afraid my nannie will steal him from me again, but I'm misrable without one. What should I do?

Can you volunteer at an animal shelter or spend time with a neighbor's dog? I volunteered at my local shelter when I couldn't have pets and spent the day walking dogs and petting the cats. Sometimes you can even foster puppies/kittens that are too young to be adopted. I'm sorry about your dog... we have that problem where I live too. I'm allergic to bulldogs too, but I still own one. I just take allergy pills so he doesn't make me itch. Things will get easier. : )

It is my idea that you talk to your mother or father about how you feel. Tell them you miss your old dog, tell them that the nanny took the former dog everywhere with her and would not let you and the dog bond and be best buddies.

Have your parents talk to the nanny, not you.
You can never replace the one that died, but you have a big heart and there is enough room in it for you to love another dog as well.
Only time will help heal the loss that you feel, and there is no limit on how long it might take. You will always miss your dog, and you will always feel sad, but you will also remember the good things too, and in time the saddness, and the hurt you feel will get better.

You should tell your nanny how you felt when she took him everywhere. If you get a new dog(which you would feel so much better if you got one)you need to tell your nanny that this is your dog and he is not hers. when my dog died I thought I couldn't go on, but I got a new one and he is the same kind of dog as the one that died and , its almost like having him back again! I'm so happy I got another dog!!!!!!!!!!! and you could be happy too!

First off, how old are you? And how did you lose your dog; did it through a fence and got killed by coyotes, or did your nanny steal him? I'm guessing you are pretty young since your thoughts kind of rambled, but death is a fact of and a part of life. We cannot prevent it, simply accept it and move on.Sadness is a part of growing up and I bet a new pet would take your mind off your old dog, maybe not immediately though.

I'm so sorry about your puppy. Fire the nanny and get a new puppy (make sure the fence is fixed first). We need our dogs, our lives aren't complete without them. You know in your heart that you can love again. Don't let this experience sour you in your love of dogs or you may miss out on something very special.

I know the hurt you feel.
This past Sunday, I had to take my dog and have her put to sleep.
She was dying from Kidney failure....she was also 15 yrs old.
I'd say, go get a new puppy...you won't be replacing your dog, you'll still have its memories...nothing can replace that.
Also, dose your mother know how you feel about your nannie?
Dose your Nannie know how you feel about her.
IF you've never told either of them, you should.
Tell your mom 1st.. She should be able to help you talk to your nannie, or if you feel uneasy talking to your nannie, your mom could talk to her for you....
Either way, get a new puppy, I'm sure you'll give it lots of love.

I think it is really important to get another dog and get rid of the Nanny you have....getting another dog wont replace the dog you lost but will help the pain and its a good idea to get rid of the Nanny.

My life was full of dogs , 2 of them died. One from old age and the other we put it to sleep from a broken hip.You know how I got over it ? I got another dog . It won't replace your other one and you will never forget your dog because every dog has its own characteristics but I loved them all the same .Believe me get one it will work !!!!
