Do you know any S&M people (Spaniards or Mexicans) ? If so tell them your desire and they'll help you. Also, In your local bookstore buy some CD's by "Pimsuler"....You listen and repeat, listen and repeat. One other way is go to a bar or resturaunt in the Spanish speaking part of town, and have a few drinks. The alcohol will open your mind up (i'm serious) because then you will be less self-concious about making mistakes when you converse. Lastly, travel to Mexico or Spain whenever you can.

It depends upon how much of a talent you have for languages! It also depends upon what you mean by fluent! I am relatively fluent in French (I can carry on normal conversations) but cannot speak it 'like a native'.
Someone can live in another country and never learn how to speak the language because they do not have that sort of brain. However, others seem to be able to pick up languages at the drop of a hat. As an example, in maths some people are excellent at it, others can never get their heads wrapped around it and, despite trying their best, never manage to get good grades.
I know you do shiftwork but ask at the college if you can go along for lessons when they fit in with your shifts? That way, you can be corrected by the tutor when you get things wrong - otherwise you could be learning things that are wrong.
Having said that, it sounds as if you are doing things properly! Oh, and what an excellent excuse to have to go to Spain on holiday (but not the Costa del Sol, I suggest - they talk too much English there!) so you can practice!
Good luck!

The easiest, fastest and best way to learn any language is to live the language. This means to use it in practise and in real living situations; live in the country where you will have to constantly use it to get by , or otherwise use it continuously in person to person relationships with people with speak the language as a first language. That way you should learn it in about a year's time; i.e fluently.
