I need something primarily for getting out of sand but I'm unsure if I could pick the right one just by hitting off of the mat.
My Irons are 04 Big Bertha's with a 10 iron and Wedge (50 degs?). Is it possible to pick the right bounce without paying for custom fitting? I would appreciate advice on how to choose as well as suggestions on brand, loft and bounce. I hit anywhere between 105 and 115. Friends are recommending Cleveland and Titlists even though they don't own these themselves probably just from reputation.

Titleist Vokey wedges come in various bounces and lofts to suit your style. bounces range from 6-12 degrees and lofts come in 2 degree increments. there are like 6 or 7 different configurations there so you're bound to find something that will fit you.

I would recommend a new Cleveland wedge. If you're going to use this wedge primarily for sand play, I would recommend a 60 degree wedge. By doing this, you don't have to open the blade as much to get a nice bunker shot. However, if you want a wedge for fairway and sand play, go with a 56 degree wedge. It will be easier to hit out of the fairway, and though you will have to open the blade a little more in the sand, you will have a wedge that is more useful.

****If money is not an issue, search ebay or othter sites and buy a wedge that is tour grind. You will know the wedge is a true tour grind wedge because it will be stamped with a "TG" on the hozell of the club head. This type of wedge can sell for as high as $200 on ebay, but it is worth every penny.******

Just so you know, I have played with PING, Callaway, Titleist Vokey, Cleveland, and Mizuno wedges. My above recommendation comes from experience that was gained the hard way, but don't let me talk you into anything. Go to your nearest golf shop and hit all of the different types of wedges and see what feels the best to you. Simply use the above listed wedges to try. (Others will be a pointless waste of time. You get what you pay for.)

Cleveland and Titleist are known to make the best wedges. I tested a Titleist Vokey, and just hated it. I could hardly hit the ball square. The Cleveland CG is really light, but REALLY expensive. I currently own a Carbite 60* wedge. I would reeccomend that you look into that brand. They are heavy, and produce A TON of spin. Check em' out!!

Given your game, I would recommend a club with a good sole and low weighting. and also a correct swing through the sand.
