Look I'm NOT a docter but i think that the best thing for you to do is to take your dog to the vet and see what the problem is cuz you wouldn't want something bad to be wrong you know?

When I first read your question I was concerned she had an infection.
If her babies are 3 weeks old, I doubt there is anything (per Honeys concern) that should have come out that hasn't.
When you added that her nipples have started to harden, it makes me think she may have mastitis (milk fever)
That is where the milk gets clogged up in the teat and doesn't come out like it should. This will cause the milk to become really thick, causing more clogging. The puppies will tent to leave that teat alone.
This is a very serious problem for the mom, and possibly the puppies.
See if you are able to "milk" some of the liquid out of the teats. It really needs to come out and the puppies are not going to want to nurse that/those teats.
You can try placing a warm cloth over the teats that are hard, that will sometimes open the ducts in the teats and give the mom some relief.
If you can clear the teats enough to get the puppies to drink from them, that will be the best for her. The pups still need to stay with the mom for at least 3 more weeks if possible.
If the milking or the warm cloth doesn't help, the vet will have to prescribe something to dry her milk.
This is one of the times it will be necessary to go to the vet, as soon as you can
EDIT: dolittle is correct, my boo boo

what is her temp? Dogs are alot like humans, a temp is a sign of infection, but a temp for a dog is actually alot higher than that of a human, her rectal temp should normally run around 101-102, so that gives you some basis there. Are the puppies still nursing? Where there any complications with birth, ie large puppies she had difficulty delivering, long labor, c-section? I would keep a close eye on her, make sure she is drinking plenty of water and eating, especially if she is a small dog. If her temp gets above normal and stays elevated and she is not drinking or eating as she should or if she is just laying around, you need to get her to the vet. If she had a very large litter the puppys can be draining her of all of her nutrients and she could be experiences malnurishment or dehydration, this is another reason you need to make sure she is eating and drinking plenty. Also check her gums, make sure they are pink, not white, if they are white this means she is anemic, this can be from worms.

There is something wrong, any dog that has been in distress for a day needs to see a vet, especially post whelping as there are a number of conditions which are very serious and need immediate attention. This could range from uterine infection to milk fever (inadequate calcium - not the same as mastitis) and if not treated quickly could have very serious consequences.
Hardening mammory glands may indicate the dog has mastitis, inflammation of the mammory tissue. This needs to be dealt with quickly to ensure quick return to function and to relieve the discomfort the animal is experiencing especially with nursing puppies! This is a very painful condition!
Take your dog to the vet, they will either culture the milk or give a broad spectrum antibiotic to clear up any infection the ***** may have. As for the puppies you will have to rear them on milk replacer for the remainder of their nursing interval.
Good luck with it all.
NB - pleurisy is not a uterine infection, it is a lung infection.

ok i think most of the other people who have answerd you are on the right track. Shes got a infection prbly caused by a unborn puppy still loged inside of her. Does she still have a lump inside of her?? do the pups have teeth yet you may beable to get them to eat solid food by mixing warm water doog food and powderd milk or puppy formula. i had to do this with my dogs last litter there were too many pups and they were all gettting there teeth at 3 weeks so i started feeding them. will she eat or drink anything?? try massaging her breasts and see if you can get milk out of them. if the milks dis collored or wont come out and and or the breasts wount soften with meassage take her to the vet in the morning. for to night try to make sure the pups are eating something. and she is kept comfortable and cool. Oh what type of dog is she???big ? small?

You'd better get her to the vet because she is VERY SICK and needs antibiotics NOW and you are probably going to have to spend the next few weeks mixing puppy formula and feeding them.
It's her fifth litter in four years? That's awful. It's time to get her spayed or, like a puppy miller, you'll end up breeding her to (an early) death.

call the vet right away she maybe has some sort of infection or with the hardening of the boobs she may have what they call mastitious which is very painful for the dog and may keep her from feeding the puppies and could be fatal

Listen , relax, its not that serious. You are going above and beyond the call of duty. These things have a way of working themselves out naturaly. Its called growing. They have everything they need for a long and happy life. I wish I had u taking care of me like that. They know u are there and taking care of them and they are so happy. Look at them when they are sleeping. Could they look any more peaceful? Look at them when they look u in the eyes, can they be any more grateful to have you? No they cant, you are making them feel loved, and cared for and soon they will return it u 10 fold. You are great and a rare breed , dont ever change. And with that combination they pups cant lose. Dont let dumb a_s with the Chinese crap bother u. Thank god those pups are w/u

She may have pleurisy, which is an infection within the uterus. My mom's dog had this and had emergency surgery (she's still alive). Call your vet... often they have an emergency number on their voice mail and get her some help.
Edit: Sorry I meant pyramentra..I wasn't paying attention to my spell check.
