Ground cayenne or black pepper sprinkled on the ground will do the trick. The pepper will have to be replaced every few days or after a rain . Sprinkling moth balls in that area will work as well. After a while the dog will stay away from that area without the deterrents.

Put chili or cayenne pepper on the spot. I'd be careful with the cayenne, though, because my dog was allergic to that. Also, I read somewhere that dogs hate the smell of cinnamon and steer clear of it. It didn't work with my dogs, but that's what I read.

Also, you could try Worcester sauce. It's just a theory of mine, but my dog wouldn't go anywhere near it when I put it down. Then again, I'm learning that my dog is a weird case.

Cover the cable with chicken wire and then rebury. Wait. Dogs won't like trying to dig through that. It will stop them. Good luck.

Spray it with a product called Apple Bitter (pets stores carry it). My dog had chewed 9 pairs of my shoes until I found out about this miracle stuff. They hate the smell and stear clear from whatever it is sprayed on.
